Other features of note:
-local SAN: very easy to set up - although when transferring multiple 14Gig files of my husband's GoPro snowmobiling video, it temporarily froze and I had to wait a few seconds for the network to come back. Solutions: Delete 14Gig videos of snowmobiling (trust me), or when doing large file transfers, connect directly to the hard drive. It is fantastic for shared pictures and videos of 1G or less though, so excellent for average home use.
-OpenVPN compatibility: haven't tried it yet, but this is one of the reasons I bought this router. From other reviews I've seen, it works seamlessly.
-Monitoring: The admin interface has all kinds of monitoring, from showing who's being a bandwidth hog, to a visual network map, to basic logs. These features were well designed and useful.
-QoS: Very easy to use QoS/prioritization options
-Port Forwarding: This was a bit difficult to find at first, hidden in a Media submenu under Security, but easy to configure and works flawlessly so far.
Also, for some reason it is hard to find in chain stores in town - they often confuse it with the lesser 1900AC version, which has half the CPU power. Buying my second one online was much easier than hunting around stores in town to find it.
Linksys is back, and this beefy router is proof. I read dozens of reviews before buying it, and it didn't disappoint - this is the best home/SOHO router on the market today.
There are a few other features included with this router that I find very useful. The status lights on the front of the router tell you instantly if your Internet connection is working and let you know if any wireless device is using your 2.4GHz or 5.0Ghz network. I connected my Samsung TV to the 5.0GHz network for streaming You Tube videos and the connection has not failed once in the four weeks since I installed the Linksys router. The Network Map gives you a instant picture of every device connected to your network and it is easy to rename each device to your preference instead of having to use default names. Passwords can be changed quickly and devices can be disconnected or reconnected with ease. There is also a Linksys app that provides secure remote access to your router settings if you need to change anything when you are away from home. Overall I am very pleased with the long range wireless coverage and the stability of all wireless connections using this Linksys router.
