Installed the 2-node pack Linksys Velop in black color in our Living Room & Bedroom to replace an Apple AirPort Extreme (Wireless AC version). In our Bedroom with the AirPort, the fastest speed I ever saw with a speedtest was 37Mbps. Now with the Linksys Velop, I see 150+Mbps. And that is only using wireless backhaul with the Linksys nodes! I am planning on hooking them up with a wired backhaul so I can easily see the 250Mbps that we are paying for.
The only complaints I have are that it's a bit difficult for bigger hands to plug the ethernet cables into the bottom of the unit, the power plug is unnecessarily large and you have to use a 1ft power strip saver to get it to fit anywhere, and the unit could be smaller in size if they didn't leave 2" at the bottom for the ethernet. They are very small details, but don't in any part take away from how huge of an upgrade this was from the Airport Extreme.
The range is also incredible! I probably could have gotten away with one node, but why not make sure I can blanket my WiFi down the street?? It was really easy to set up in the app and being able to see the system on my phone anytime, anywhere is huge. Plus, I can set up alerts to notify me if one or both of my Velop nodes go down. You can set up Device Prioritization for up to 3 devices. You can use MAC whitelisting. You can set up custom DNS settings, and many more!
If you're upgrading from an older WiFi device, I highly suggest pulling the trigger and doing it. Yes, it is an investment, but it's your home wireless. If you want something reliable, then get it!
