I thought a blanket would be an easy item to start with...one stitch, all I had to do was count. This should have been easy, but this yarn is so loose that from time to time I can't see where I'm supposed to insert the hook and my count was always off. I think a more tightly woven yarn would have been much easier for me to work with.
That said, I absolutely love the soft feel of this yarn and it's going to make a very cozy blanket. (After ripping my blanket apart twice, I gave up on being a perfectionist and decided to become a good enoughist. It's my first ever blanket, after all. It won't be perfect anyway.)
My kids love the feel of this yarn so much that each of them has claimed ownership of the blanket if/when I complete it. I also seem to get a lot of snuggles when I'm crocheting. I think this has less to do with me and more to do with cozying up to the blanket, which resembles a scarf at this point.
I was hoping to move on to another project, but I think I'm going to be making blankets out of this yarn forever!
My 5 year old grandson loved his blanket so much that I had to make him another. He used his blanket everyday for comfort and naps.I made the first one when he when he was born.
The second one I made was when he was 3 years old and he took it to daycare for naps.
I made a third one out of the leftover Homespun yarn which he used in the car, it was made using different shades of blue with some apple red color. I made him a bigger blanket to fit his new bed after growing out of his youth bed. Also using left over Homespun yarn to make him a hat and mittens.
I got this yarn to make a blanket for his new baby brother. No doubt I will make more...
Wish Lionbrand would make more pastel shades for babies. The colors I used where not typical for babies.
For me I'm in the midst of making my first prayer shawl and only had three skeins of the color I want to use. I was so thankful to be able to go onto Amazon and find the fourth skein of the Lions Brand Homespun I needed in the perfect color as well.
Thank you to Fabric.com for carrying this dye lot, as I was told it's a few years old and I might not be able to get it, now it know my shawl will be done with the right amount of yarn, I would say perfectly but I'm working on it.
Also thank you to Amazon for carrying this Brand so that I didn't have to go from store to store and maybe not finding it anywhere.
