Good for 7 days, then dead....

Verified Purchase

Each track had an outside rail with a bend in the metal at the very end of the track. We accepted that (which we shouldn't have) and the train worked great for 7 days. Then, on day 8, the train just stopped working. The noises worked fine, but the train wouldn't move. I figured maybe the tracks and wheels were dirty, so we cleaned them. Still nothing. The red light to the track was on so there was no interruption in the electricity flow. After cleaning the wheels and tracks some more, still nothing, yet the noises worked fine. So I changed the batteries in the remote, knowing it wouldn't make a difference (but just to satisfy my curiosity), and still nothing. I came the conclusion that the motor died. We have another train and used it on the same track and it worked just fine. It's a shame but I know these things happen.

Small, Not typical Lionel train size

I do like this cute set. I wanted to replace the lionel trains we lost when we lost our home in a fire last year. We had several trains and I never have seen any other size other than the ones we use to have. Not knowing there could be other sizes this looked like a great replacement. The track is the same size we use to have but the train and cars are half the size of the ones we use to own. Disappointed in the small size. That clearly should have been advertised. With that said, a few years later, the set is still working great and the smaller size has grown on me.

Have to unplug between uses

I like the train, it's a good quality. The tracks are good quality and the train stays on them. I don't like that I can't leave the track plugged in because if I do the train doesn't work. I found that you have to unplug it between uses, then it works fine, but if you leave it plugged in, for whatever strange reason the train doesn't go the next time you want to use it. It's very inconvenient to have to unplug it all the time.

This is a cool looking train, and the most reasonably priced model out there but it has 2 issues. 1) Every time i power off the remote, I have to lift the engine off the track and then realign it or there's no power. 2) It's loud. The train makes a LOT of noise, even when the "sound" is turned off.

Works OK but had some track connectivity issues right away, meaning electricity wasn't getting all the way around the track. A wiggle of the track fixed it. For the price it is great since trains are very expensive these days, but nothing like my Lionel when I was a kid. Good value set more for looks and holiday use than for engineers.

Love the train and it works well. There is no headlight, and the announcements are not distinct, but I like controlling the bell and whistle with the remote. I could not put the track together and had to have someone much stronger to help with that, now I'm wondering if I will be able to take it apart.
