One note: The holes for the legs to insert in to seemed a bit small. I ended up having to bang the legs in, but I was able to do it with my palm. If it's still too tight, you could also easily sand them a bit and knock them in with a rubber mallet if you're concerned about nicking the wood.
My biggest concern is that there is apparently no finish on this product to protect it from water! I thought, surely they would put some sort of poly finish or something on something that will CLEARLY get wet, but they did not. There are tons of water stains on this shelf, which looks sloppy. I am planning on sanding it down, restaining it, and finishing it at some point. It's just disappointing that they didn't spend the extra few cents to make it water resistant.
This is just what I needed above my kitchen sink.
In the pictures you could see that above my kitchen sink, my window sill (I don't even know if you could call it that because its so small) is about and inch wide; so before this counter, i had no area to put my herbs/ plants near the window. I was looking for the best deal (price, size, and style) and this seemed to be the best one I could find (it was about 13.25 with tax) I am very happy with it, its solid, sturdy, its very long (goes over my two sinks), and its a very nice natural style that goes good with the other wood in my kitchen. It was also very easy to put together (3 pieces, 1 counter, 2 legs)
Fast shipping, nothing damaged
This is a very nice basic wood shelf..... I can not believe its under $12. I'm not sure if it's coated with something to prevent water damage over time but I'm going to seal it myself just in case......
* Very Funny.....my hubby was making fun of me, like really? You need a shelf? THEN before he saw it opened, I put it all together within seconds while he went to drop off a package, came back then he was like don't I get one? So our sinks match? 😂😂😂
just bought him one as well. You won't be disappointed in this product. 💚💙💜❤️💛
It's okay-looking. The color is that of unstained pine. It's a practical solution to the problem of space. It's made primarily of 'sustainables' which are things the planet can bang out at negligible expense to itself. While it is finished with what looks like a matte acrylic, I'm not sure I'd want it sitting in a water for very long, but I didn't get it for the sink anyway.
It's very strong. It comes with those bottom pieces separately. You need to bang/push the dowels into the pre-drilled holes. The dowels are center notched which allows them to spread a bit with humidity which makes the legs even securer. Anyway, I have a lot of weight of mine in heavy ceramics. I don't know why they show it with three jalapenos on it.
I may wind up getting even more. So far I find Lipper and Home Basics wood stuff comparable quality-wise. I've gotten plate racks by both so I'm going to try the other brand, next one I get, if the price disparity continues.
