Liquitex Acrylic Mediums
In addition to the widest array of Professional and Student colors, Liquitex offers the broadest possible range of acrylic mediums to inspire creativity at every stage of the painting process. We understand that mediums are often a difficult concept to grasp until you actually dive into them, so we’ve tried to simplify usage by classifying products in three distinct categories: Prep, Paint, and Finish.

All Fluid Mediums
- Increase Flow
- Dry transparent or translucent
- Extend the volume of thin paint
- Make an excellent archival adhesive for collage
They are fluid in nature and reduce viscosity of heavier paints and gels. They tend to self-level and do not retain brushstrokes. They modify acrylic paints in a variety of ways and contain acrylic resins to maintain or enhance adhesion and durability.
Fluid Mediums available:
- Palette Wetting Spray
- Gloss Medium & Varnish
- Glazing Medium
- Matte Medium
- Ultra Matte Medium
- Slow-Dri Blending Medium
Gloss Medium & Varnish
The workhorse of the Liquitex mediums range. Gloss Medium & Varnish is an all-purpose medium that performs two functions. It can be used as a varnish and/or a fluid gloss medium. It improves adhesion of paint film and increases color depth, intensity, and gloss. It can also be used as a non-removable varnish to protect the surface and establish an even gloss sheen.
|Palette Wetting Spray||Glazing Medium||Matte Medium||Ultra Matte Medium||Slow-Dri Blending Medium|
|Also available:||This medium improves color blending and can be used to thin color while maintaining film integrity||Can be used to create brilliant glazes when mixed with transparent color||Used to give fluidity to delicate brushwork or to act as a low sheen adhesive for collage||Used to maintain opacity and extend opaque colors to double amounts, without changing the color||An essential medium for creating softer edges and modeled forms|
|Spray onto your palette or directly onto the surface of a painting||Dries quickly for rapid layering and tends to minimize or eliminate brush strokes||This medium has a creamy consistency and is great with opaque colors||Ideal for large projects where transparency is not desired||This medium is used to extend the “open” time of acrylics by more than 40%, giving you an opportunity to really work the paint to enhance color blending|

But regardless, I already know that this is a quality product.
Liquitex is reliable in terms of their quality of materials. Their acrylic paints are somewhat basic in comparison to more expensive brands, but even those are of good quality.
The acrylics are really good for beginners in particular. The colors are all very bright and clear, and the consistency is good. It's easier to work with than oils I'm guessing. It dries much faster, and still provides very vivid and bold colors. It doesn't stink like oil paints do, and I look forward to using this glazing medium in the near future. On glass!
I don't have a single complaint. I've relied on Liquitex for years, and it always does what it's supposed to do.
I just kinda regret getting such a large bottle. Unless it was a much better deal to do so, or if it was the only option.
473 mL...... If I worked on a brand new, large canvas every day, this would still last me for a while.
Those bottles from a long time ago? I bet you they would still work ok. I don't really prefer to test that out, unless I have to. But that's how well they usually keep. They don't dry up and go bad in a couple years.
So this is still a good investment.
Mixing it with Acrylic paints.
I shopped around at local Joanns Craft stores and the mediums are so watered down. If you can shake it and it sounds like water. Don't buy it.
Here on Amazon, the Liquitex is really the best. Do it correct the first time and you are saving funds. Over all this product is in good quality and I am excited to have a large bottle in good condition.
Now, if it would only paint by itself.... I am certainly no Van Gogh, but who knows.... maybe with enough patience and practice..
Once dry it just peels right off my pallet. Leaving it clean to start anew. All and all I would recommend it.
