About Lisa Saunders
Lisa Saunders scours out-of-print books and long-forgotten letters to shed new light on historic figures. Her inspiration for "Ride a Horse, Not an Elevator," came from her childhood summers spent on her grandparents' farm where she used an outhouse and was forced to ride a pony. Although she prefers to write about the dead because they don't complain when their stories are published, she is curious about the living--especially those trying to make a difference--and interviews them on her TV talk show. She lives in Mystic, Connecticut, with her husband, Jim, and hound, Doolittle, where she works as a part-time historical interpreter at Mystic Seaport. Using publicity skills gained as a former campus communications writer in New York, Lisa helped Connecticut become the second state in the U.S. to enact a law combating the #1 viral cause of birth defects, congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), which led to the disabilities and death of her younger daughter as told in her book, "Anything But a Dog! The perfect pet for a girl with congenital CMV." Lisa is an instructor on writing, publicity, and publishing at New London Adult and Continuing Education. She was awarded the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations Gold Medallion. A public speaker, Lisa presents on inspiring historic adventurers such as Amelia Earhart and why everyone should write a book--especially those with a story to tell, those in need of emotional healing, and business owners. A graduate of Cornell University, she is the author of 10 books. Visit Lisa at: www.authorlisasaunders.com
