This beats the cheap angle meters but i find the numbers to be very hard to see. Making the backing surface "chrome" and therefore reflective is downright idiotic. In tight quarters and at an angle its impossible to see the numbers.
Bottom line is that it does the job...just doesnt make it easy

Also the screw to secure the dial comes loose unexpectedly and require checking EVERY TIME. Too easy to forget i dont like that. When youre working with a 40$ bmw bolt you dont want to take that chance.

Another tool which could have been made much better for the price.

Pros: The sturdy 1/2" drive, the flexible holding arm with the clip at the end.

Cons: Bad manufacturing quality, sloppy parts tolerances, VERY difficult to see shiny "silver" scale. To begin with, the graduated scale is attached off-center, and while this is not that critical in practice, it shows poor craftsmanship and basically that Lisle don't care about their customers. The scale is reflecting the light which makes it VERY difficult to see precisely where the pointer (cheap spring (roll) pin) is - In fact, the graduated scale should have been flat WHITE for best viewing, and I am not discovering the hot water here, but Lisle may well be. This angle meter is made of parts with very sloppy tolerances. I am a Mechanical design engineer and can assure you there is no need for such rough and ugly manufacturing in order to make this tool work reliably and be produced cost-efficiently.

If I knew what the build quality of this tool would be, I would have made my own. But again, most reviewers here are quite happy with what they get, so I must be one of the few who cares about the quality of the products "Made in USA".

I purchased this tool at a reasonable price to replace head gaskets on a 2004 Chevy Impala. It did the job but the sticker on the disk that has the numbers was not centered on the tool and was overhanging the side. This is not really a big deal but come on, this tool was made in the USA! Someone has ONE job, to put a sticker on straight and couldn't get it right? That makes me a little sad. The other problem with the tool is that the clamp and cable that enters the side of the tool constantly falls out because it isn't secured in any way. In the end the tool did what it was supposed to do but I really have higher hopes of product quality when I see something that is made in the USA. Perhaps my expectations are just too high...

Works as designed, but it broke

This is not a high quality tool, but it works for occasional use. I had two problems. First, the flexible cable is held onto the head of the gauge with a press-in 'rivet'. That rivet came loose and the cable separated. I repaired it by threading the rivet hole and installing a set screw. The second problem is that the 1/2 inch drive fits very loosely onto a ratchet and socket. This sloppy fit makes the gauge somewhat inaccurate and the gauge tends to fall off the ratchet when moving it about.

And a general comment. There is some free play between all ratchet, socket and accessory (extensions) parts. Make sure that you take up that free play with some slight pressure on the wrench in the same manner when reading both the starting point and finish point.

Probably the best closest thing to a digital angle wrench which is expensive. I had a Fel Pro cheapie I used for years and really hated trying to hold the meter steady with one hand while torquing the bolt with the other hand and my face turning blue under the strain and wishing I had more hands or worked out more.Very awkward.

This makes the job much easier. Frees up your hands. Four stars because you can't read the dial easily but you can't on the Fel Pro either. Simple solution is I marked the zero angle with paint and the desired angle with paint. Then its easy while torquing to know where to start and stop.

Regarding the sloppiness, its the same with the Fel Pro. But simple solution here is to hold the drive stub in the clockwise position while connected to the bolt. Then set the meter to zero while continuing to hold the extension with mild pressure in clockwise direction. Lock it down, Now when you put your breaker bar on the extension, it will start at true zero on the meter after the slop is taken up.

And yes you have to change the position of the cable for the different position of the bolts. So what? It's $30 not $300. Go buy the $300 tool if that's too much trouble. Probably took me 5 minutes more to torque 12 bolts using this tool over the digital angle wrench. But I also saved $270.

These tools are always a little bit clunky to use, especially when working under a car on suspension components. I've found that keeping the face of the tool in a position where I could read it while finding the space to position the needed extension and ratchet can become a problem at times. The tool. however, works as advertised, providing the amount of angular rotation in degrees that the ratchet turns the fastener. Bottom line is that you'll need one of these angle meters for torque to yield bolts, and the Lisle tool works as advertised and is a good value for the money.

Was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews but the device works great, if your working in a dimly light area without lighting I could see how you might have issue reading the numbers but for me I was working with a head lamp and had no issues but also have perfect vision. Worked perfectly on my wifes BMW X3, used to replace oil pan gasket and rear main seal. Way better than just guessing.
