Taye I’m not sure of, as there were some characteristics of her that I found annoying at the start of the story. She is an independent woman who seems to know what she wants in life so much so that she even has a list of things she wants in the bedroom, one being a one night stand. So, following a chance meeting with Eli leads to ticking off that one on the list, only for things to become more than a one night stand.
I felt sorry for Taye though when her feelings for Eli seemed totally unrequited and I felt her confusion at what he wanted from her when he didn’t want a relationship and felt he kept her dangling on. However, I have to say Eli stayed true to his word and I like that there was no sudden about turn with him.
An enjoyable read that will appeal to those that want a guy that is a douche and enjoy an angst filled read with an ending that I wasn’t expecting but understood.
Taye meets Eli and thinks he is a one-night stand and of course things turn different. Taye and Eli build a sexual relationship where no feelings are supposed to be involved, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants. It’s hard to explain without giving things away, but this book is definitely not what I expected. At times, I liked Taye, but I felt like she stopped her life for a guy that wasn’t all in. And I couldn’t really connect with Eli because we don’t know much about him. He always shuts down convos and never lets Taye in and of course majority of the book he is away. Now there is some sexy moments and hot chemistry between these two, but at the same time there wasn’t really any deep passion or connection except them running into each other at odd times. There is a lot of drinking and bar hopping in this book too so I felt like their relationship was based a lot around alcohol. I wanted to like this book, but I wanted too see connection between Taye and Eli. There is an HEA so that’s definitely a plus.
Taye is a woman I loved reading about. She has her whole current life planned out. She enjoys her friends and family. Occasionally has the one night hook up, but in the end she feels pretty content. But you know that sometimes we girls need to let loose. No not in a floozy way, just a person who doesn't gives a ...well you know what and just have fun. No regrets. So Taye does just that. She lets her bestie take her out and she has so much fun drinking and dancing. And then Mr. Eli appears and sparks fly! And then he helps her with THE LIST.. Heck yeah!
Eli is amazingly honest, though I would have to say I was a tad disappointed in him. Maybe it was his attitude. I love a man that is just bad ass, with a bit of attitude and confidence. Maybe when he was a bit standoffish that was the turn off button. What I came to a conclusion was that he may have been protecting his heart or soul. So my friends, I ask you to read this book and give us your thoughts!
you can see when they begin to see the error of their ways and make you fall in love with them.
This book is about a woman named Taye. She is extremely complex, She has multiple layers and just when you think you have her personality pegged, you
soon realise you got her wrong.
Taye’s partner in crime in this story is so flawed it makes you crazy at times.
Eli is probably one of the strangest most irritating male lead character I have read about in along long time. In saying that it kept the story interesting and
he brings out Taye’s strengths really well. I actually think he is the only man that could have opened her eyes to her own self-worth. And by the end, you see when he realises
what he is prepared to give up how much it rocks him to face the thought of losing the love of his life.
Together these two are a perfect match in every way. Their sexual chemistry Is off the charts and their personalities are well matched and make for some interesting playful banter.
I think at the end of the day, some people will love this book, some might not because the characters are not perfect or your typical knight in shining armour and the picture perfect,
sassy oozing in self-confidence woman. It is a work of fiction with a heavy dose of reality and let’s face it, sometimes it is nice and refreshing to read a story about characters that are not perfect
and have flaws that make them easy to relate to for the everyday reader.
The fact that this story makes you feel different emotions towards the characters while empathizing with their varied situations is a true testament to the talent of Chantal Fernando. Not many
authors have the talent to provoke multiple responses from their readers is one story.
Well worth taking time to have a read! By the end I actually could have read about this couple for another couple of hours!!
