First of all: two outlets instead of just one. Duh. So obvious, but brilliant. Throw in two USB ports, plus another built-in-micro USB charging cable, and you can have 5 devices plugged in to a single outlet, without needing any extra equipment or adapters.
Second: unlike so many others, this adapter actually supports grounded devices & outlets. If you've ever tried to find an adapter that will accept a 3-prong laptop charger plug, you know they can be hard to come by, and they never actually ground the device - they just fit the plug. This one actually does provide a ground, protecting your electronics like they would be in the US.
Third: The plug adapters are properly shaped to fit even recessed plugs. My first trip overseas almost ended in disaster: the adapter kit that I took with me was made for outlets that were flush with the wall, but the outlets in my room were all recessed. There was no way to get my plug to reach the outlet. I had to rig a very insecure (and very unsafe) adapter using some extra pieces in the kit. That's not a problem you'll run into with this one. The people who designed this one have obviously actually been overseas before, and know that not every plug is the same. The right plugs are recessed correctly for the right countries where you might encounter them.
Fourth: The size and design are great. It's really compact (much moreso than I was expecting for what it has built in). It's also designed so that you can rest your phone/USB battery/whatever on top of it while it's charging, so it's not sitting on the floor. It even works if you had to plug the adapter in upside down. They've really fit as much as possible into the allotted space.
There are two things I would probably change. Since this has multiple adapters (for various countries), you obviously have to keep up with them. A bag or case of some kind would be extremely helpful. It seems to be the only thing they haven't thought of. Also, the box says that USB port A is for Apple products, and port B is for all other products. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that is. They both provide 5V and 1.6A. I'd really like to know their reasoning here.
Needless to say, I'm very impressed with this item. It gets 5 stars, and will get my full endorsement to any family or friends who need an adapter like this.
Travelers to Italy:
Note that there are two types of wall sockets found in Italy - a traditional three prong version and a hybrid-looking one that also accepts two prongs, eg is universal EU outlet friendly (picture attached - hybrid socket on the right). I only traveled to Sorrento + Positano, and found that all of the hotel rooms I stayed at had at least a few of the EU outlet friendly sockets. Note that this product doesn't work with the traditional Italian three prong wall socket.
Germany an France: This adapter was a perfect fit for power outlets in both Germany and France (and even these two have slight differences), and worked great.
Italy: Worked because our particular hotel room had one power outlet where the holes for the two main prongs were over-sized. The adapter would not work with the other power outlets in the room because the prongs on the adapter were too fat for the power outlets. For Italy you need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Ceptics-Italy-Travel-Plug-Adapter/dp/B007YL6HY6/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1491305413&sr=1-3&keywords=italy+power+adapter and then this adapter I'm writing about can be plugged into it.
Switzerland: Didn't work at all because the prongs on the adapter were too fat to fit into the power-outlet and, the power outlets in Switzerland have a place for a third prong that is in between the two main prongs (perhaps its the ground plug not sure). We borrowed an adapter from the front desk that converted their Switzerland style power-plug into a German style plug and it managed to stay plugged into the wall without falling-out and then plugged this adapter into the borrowed adapter and it worked fine. For Switzerland you need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Ceptics-Switzerland-Travel-Plug-Adapter/dp/B0080SG1SY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1491305258&sr=1-2&keywords=switzerland+power+adapter and then the adapter I'm writing about can be plugged into it:
The two main USB plugs worked great and are wonderfully convenient. If you look carefully at the picture there is a short built-in cable with a mini-USB connector that can be used to charged a third device. Then, if you have your own USB charger you can plug it into the american style plug. We charged 4 USB devices at the same time. Bear in mine that the available 2.4 AMPS are distributed to the 2 USB connectors and built-in cable which means charging 3 devices at the same time will take 3 times as long as charging 1 device at a time. And in fact, some devices that require a lot of power to charge may not get charged at all if you are using all 3 USB outputs at the same time because each USB cable will be putting out less than 1 AMP.
