First new album in nine years by a musical visionary and hugely influential figure in new music. Continuing his lifelong exploration of the possibilities of the studio, fragments of performance are sampled, looped, overdubbed and re-arranged into beguiling unexpected shapes. Hassell applies the painterly technique of pentimento to the arrangements, teasing out texture by the careful overlaying of sound, or a carefully timed reveal of the delicate bones pinning the frame of a track together. Smeared, gauzy, gorgeous atmospherics to perfectly soundtrack a vertical listening experience

my first Hassell was The Hassell branding in my musical orientation: Earthquake Island. [I remember it like I remember my first Beethoven, or Miles ]. I stumbled on this masterpiece - or it was sent to me without an actual "option": I just grabbed the hot vinyl. The Matti Klarwein cover - is a revelation of an intimate «dream» - yep that kind. Thanks Mr Hassell for impressing on your... audience the Klarwien clear vision of that elusive reality.
this new work is Active Transambiental.
There are many levels here - it should stay on the spinner for a while. Nods to Miles, early Floyd, Earthquake Island, Terry Riley. I don't have enough culture to capture. - just tune in to the signal and quiet Down the brain.
aaa. I live in a computer-less hut - and would appreciate some concerts - please - ?
Old concerts, new concerts, future concerts, dreaming concerts.. - and Of Course: review with your guys and maybe also the previous Hassell Explorer Teams. That lady of Earthquake. Nana. The Power Spot. I am a harekrishna - and am frustrated at the Almost devanagari ( = "writing from the cities of the gods") on the cover. very evocative.
