It was suggested to me that I try a pharmaceutical solution in order to address my manic episodes but I was concerned about the side effects. I researched natural lithium and found anecdotal stories conveying the positive effects of lithium orotate and ordered a bottle. I do feel it helps to keep me more balanced.
Taking this at my sister's suggestion. Definitely enhances my moods. Feels like the swings aren't as broad in nature - feel more level on a daily basis. Good augmentation to what my physician was allready providing.
I've been taking lithium orotate for a few years for the memory loss and spaciness of aging and I make sure I never run out since it helps keep my mind 'younger'. I find that capsules are more easily absorbed and, for me, more effective than tablets.
Dr. Jonathan Wright's excellent online article about lithium recommends taking up to 8 per day of the 5 mg caps or tabs. (Check out "Lithium - The Misunderstood Mineral") My dosage now is 6 spaced throughout the day for best results.
It's almost impossible to rate vitamins and other supplements. Unless you have a significant deficit of an important vitamin, you don't know whether it's working or not. Does anyone really "feel better" when taking a multi-vitamin? We all hope it's doing some good, but that's different than knowing it is. Swanson did supply what was ordered, in the advertised dosage, however.
