Author: Ron Rhodes
Publisher: Harvest House Publishers
“From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one primary story of redemption. This story runs like a thread through the entire Bible. Though the story includes many different people, we read of God’s redeeming work in each book of the Bible,” Ron Rhodes writes in his book, "The Little Book About The Bible."
This sixty-four page notecard-sized hardbound book is targeted toward readers who want a quick overview of the Holy Bible that includes history, characteristics, inspiration, and application. With no profanity or violence, it references the English Standard Version.
Similar to other books in the series, it is divided into twenty-eight simplistic chapters, designed to be a daily four week devotional about a topic. Each two page chapter includes a “Big Idea” followed by “What You Need to Know” bullet points, one or two Bible verses, “Fast Facts” with quick one-liners, several “Points to Remember,” and a well-known author’s quote to consider.
Chapters range from technical topics about the sixty-six books of the Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and archeological support to it being inspired, inerrant, and prophetic along with assessing objections, additions, and traditions. Quotes are written by preachers and writers such as Augustine, Bunyan, Chambers, Luther, McDowell, J.I. Packer, Sproul, and Swindoll.
One “Big Idea” example is “The Bible is a ‘Jesus Book’” with a reminder Jesus is the heart of the Bible since He is the ultimate revelation of God, the Creator of the universe, the source of salvation, and the Head of the church with verses listed from Luke, John, and Hebrews.Read more ›
