A LITTLE COMBUSTIBLE CHEMISTRY by Violet Duke is a brilliant introduction to her new Cactus Creek series. It is a smart, snappy, witty, steamy, and most of all a fun prequel to Love, Chocolate and Beer (Cactus Creek #1) that was just right at satisfying me with the novella and teasing me with the desire for more. As with Violet's Nice Girl to Love series I fell head over heels for her likeable characters mostly due to the natural and realistic feel of her writing style.

The key players are Dani Dobson, wildly popular brewmaster and owner of Ocotillos Brewpub. Born and raised in Cactus Creek, she is a second generation owner and extremely well-liked among the townfolk. She is also a bit of a workaholic, been burned in the romance department leading to a yearlong sexual drought, a girl-next-door type of sweet and a take-no prisoners businesswoman all wrapped up in one feisty package Luke finds impossible to resist.

Luke Bradford is a chocolatier extraordinare who has moved his successful chocolate shop, Desert Confections, from Mesa to Cactus Creek after visiting and falling in love with the quirky small town. As the new kid on the block he has a lot to prove and a lot to lose. He is a sexy, smoldering, old-fashioned romance kind of guy who has his eyes fully focused on Dani. She can't stop the weak-in-the-knees reaction he causes in her with just the hot way he looks at her from across the room. And Luke's ready to pull out all the stops; flowers, private dinner, and candlelight all to find his way into Dani's arms.

To coin the title, their initial attraction and sexual chemistry is so intense it's combustible. They are on the same page with this from a personal perspective (the scene of their first encounter is quite delicious) and the sparks fly.

I really enjoyed reading the Prequel, about Dani Dobson & Luke Branford who meet in her bar/grill on a Friday night and boy do they hit it off! Luke is very much interested in the hot brunette that keeps offering wicked little grins, and then straight-out just staring him down. Finally Luke gets the nerve up to speak to her and she disappeared, he asked the other bartender where she went, and she said down the hall to get more liquor, why don't you follow her, she sure could use your help! So Luke went down the hall, to help the lady out. Read this prequel because it was amazingly incitefull into the life's of two very hot and passionate business owners who both happened to have shops right next to each other. The author did a great job on the story line and the characters just brought the story to life. I've very much fallen in love with Luke & Dani & Quinn. So read this prequel and then read Love, Chocolate, and Beer and you too can fall in love. It will make you laugh, and it's completely romantic.

This is a good read. First of all, I want to live in this town, that being said, this book combines great beer, great chocolate & passion....where's the down side? These is none. These characters, for the most part have depth, charm & believability. The bar is a 'real' bar, the passion is 'real' with all the doubts & desires that go with it. It was fun & I will read the rest of the series.

In this prequel novella to Love, Chocolate and Beer you meet Dani and Luke. One owns a brewpub and the other owns a chocolate shop. I would definitely suggest reading the novella before you start Love, Chocolate and Beer because it is fun and it tells how Dani and Luke met and how their competition begins.

Also these two have some serious chemistry and are fun to read about!! I am off to read more about them!!

Read this prequel and fall in love with everything Dani, Luke and Cactus Creek. This small taste of their beginning was a perfect introduction into their funny and romantic chocolate vs. beer battle. You get quickly invested in their lives and need to know the outcome. I want to live there and hang out with this fun group of friends!

I wasn't going to leave a review on this one, you'll see why, then Amazon asked me how many stars I would give it. So, here goes. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I think I am just too old for this one and it is more for the young adult, the smartphone set. The heroine owns a bar, the bartender likes men and women, I think. She has a live band, the female in the band likes men and women, I think. I just couldn't figure out what was going on or where it was going so I gave up. It was just too confusing. I'm sure I just didn't get it. So, I would suggest you read and decide for yourself. It just wasn't for me

I love Dani and Luke's story.. They have such a wonderful story and even with all that they have going against them they still are happy. I think it's awesome how Dan I knows so many of the characters from the finding series. Love the cross stories.
