Donna Barr's artwork is beautiful, clean, realistic, vivid, kicky, and expressive. Each contribution gets one or two pages of this devotion. Contributors' privacy is protected by having their names, ages, occupations, and ethnicities changed.
Bonus feature: a contribution and artwork by Kjartan Arnorsson.
The whole topic of Death is one from which many people tend to shy away. We're all going to get our trip through the One-Way Door, and Donna Barr takes a bold stance and looks Death straight in the eye. This book doesn't flinch, doesn't pull punches, and doesn't look away. You'll be enthralled.
This book is a page-turner (one person's story makes you eager for the next one), but you won't want to rush through it. You'll want to savor the artwork on every page. Donna Barr is one of the undisputed greats of the comics genre, and the execution is as masterful as the concept itself is simple.
I can't claim to be totally impartial (I helped gather some of the stories for this book), but I can claim to be totally impressed. You need this book.
