Editorial Reviews

Review

“Lavishly illustrated, lucidly written, and anecdotally fascinating, this is a magnificent book.”—Wendell D. Garrett, The Magazine Antiques

Review

“This is sparkling scholarship about wonderful objects collected with knowledge, courage, and flair, cherished at home and generously shared through exhibitions and publications. The Littles [were] model collectors and every collector and dealer in the field of American decorative arts will enjoy and profit from this book.” (Jean Lipman, author of The Flowering of American Folk Art)

This book has beautiful pictures, very detailed historical records of where each item was found and anything known of its history, as well as details of the items design and composition. It is a wonderful record of an expansive collection but it can be hard to get through as a book that tells a story.

My grandmother, Edna Greenwood a.k.a. Monk, was a fellow collector and good friend of the Littles. Nina's book reminds me so much of her collection. This is a beautiful pictorial display of American Primitives.

This is an outstanding book to add to your collection. Tells the incredible life long tale of two of the best known New England dealers and collectors. Back in a time when real early American treasures could be purchased at local auctions. Nina and Bertram were the first to start saving original paint and finishes, NOT Antiques Roadshow. As an appraiser I use this on a regular basis. Even though I focus on Kentucky items it is a wonderful read.
