Review
This story and the way Willow Rose had written it grabs you immediately and won't let go! You feel the fear and anxiety of the parents, the terror of the girls, and the frustration of the police and community. She weaves the story so that you can experience the different senses... It's hard to explain, but when you read it - you will understand. If I gave examples, I feel they would spoil the story for you.
The characters are very well developed, and they feel like people you meet or even know. You feel as if you are there on the chase to find the ten missing girls. You will feel sorry for little Nikki... and you will cheer for Julie! The parents are interesting in their reactions to their missing daughters. I really loved how Rebekkah tackles the situation!
The book touches your very heart as it is about child abduction - something that is probably every parents worst nightmare... The fact the author drew inspiration from REAL events makes the story even more chilling. Read this book - you won't be able to put it down! If you have daughters, it may give you nightmares!
Willow Rose definitely knows how to write stories that can chill you - and feel the range of emotions of her characters. This is a story that will keep me thinking about it for the next few days!
--Julie Blaskie, AmazonAll parents worst nightmare, I will not soon forget this story! Ten young girls kidnapped from their grade school? The time in the book is May, 2018.
One mother speaks in the first person; of course, that is Rebekka Frank, mother of 3, living in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Rebekka is a writer; maybe that s why she s so smart! She runs rings around the local detective with her deductive reasoning.
Another storyline runs concurrently to the kidnapping story; it is cleverly done and is not a distraction. Domestic violence in a marriage between Jane and Bob, starting in November, 1990.
Author Willow Rose has written a complex, tear-jerking, frightening, emotional, and fascinating story! The suspense is killing! The surprises and twists are wonderful. 6 Stars!
--Susan1, TOP 1000 REVIEWER AmazonThe Queen of Scream has done it again.
This story is about Rebekka Frank. One day her little girl did not get off the bus. Come to find out that 9 other girls are also missing. What happened??
Other people at school told authorities some of the girls were diverted to another bus, but no one knows why.
One parent received a popular nursery rhyme, but by the time Rebekka figured it out, it was too late for the little girl. She was found dead in her parent's car.
Now the most horrible part starts to come around. Other nursery rhymes are sent to parents. Will their parents find them in time or will it be too late again? Ms. Rose wrote this story after these horrible kidnappings had actually happened. I can imagine how I would feel if this happened to me, I have 5 daughters!

The plot was unbelievable. There was no depth. There are so many places where a someone would have intervened in real life. All the bad things that happened couldn’t really have happened.
No one would have done the things that happened to solve this case. They would have brought in a professional detective to get ‘ahead’ of the case instead of waiting for one child after another to be a victim.

Top reviews from other countries

Firstly (and I say this with a lot of books) I always struggle to get into a book where I can't identify with or like at least one of the characters. 46% in and I like no one in either of the 2 storylines. The book has a 2018 plot about 10 missing girls and a (presumably) flashback one from the 90s about an abused wife.
Focussing on the 2018 one - judging by a throwaway comment made a couple of pages ago Rebekka is / was a reporter. Had no idea up until that point - she just appeared to be the most annoying of the parents of one of the 10 missing girls. I really never enjoy a book where a civilian thinks he/she knows better than the police and constantly pesters them (and is given additional information) and ends up partly or wholly solving the case (as I'm abandoning the book, I'll never know - I'm guessing from other reviewers comments).
But my main issue is probably the gaping holes. The local cop, Jack, said the FBI were involved, at one point, and yet I've read nothing more about them since. I don't live in the US but have read a lot of books about FBI investigations and I'm pretty sure they would've taken this over 100% and Jack wouldn't still be as prominent as the storyline so far makes him out to be.
The dialogue between the parents and the police also jars. You just get passages of shouty "what are you doing to get our kids back" and even (bizarrely) "I give you permission to torture him" (in relation to questioning someone who was present, getting the kids on buses. The relationships between the characters just all seem a bit off.
Which brings me to the characters. As this is the 9th Rebekka Franck book (first that I've downloaded) I'm finding there's a lot that hasn't been explained and all the characters are pretty much 1 dimensional. Rebekka's husband, Sune, for example just seems to be someone who is mentioned and has no active role in the plot. In that he doesn't seem to be supporting her or showing any emotion over their missing daughter.
I really do dislike giving bad reviews as I'm not skilled enough to write a book myself - but like to at least try and explain what it was that I didn't like. Especially as I expect many authors use reviews as feedback as to what they are doing that is good/bad. I think I expected more from a multi-million selling author.

I'm not sure what new readers would think of the characters. None of them is described so if you hadn't read any previous books there was no way to visualise them.
Sadly, I think it's time Rebekka retired!

I didn't feel like I got to know the characters, but it appears to be part of a series so perhaps that's the reason. It wasn't clear what Rebekka's role was or where her expertise lay, but she seemed to be consistently one step ahead of the police with no real explanation as to how or why.
