A common thread in all the stories, love shows up in the most unlikely places. An enjoyable read with some sexy chocolate men with heart pumping romance. Give a girl hope.
Five short and sweet stories of second chances and steamy encounters.
SANCTUARY by Niambi Brown Davis - 4*
I liked this story of Lily and Tony. Very different people who after one night of pleasure realize that they want to know more about each other and do everything to make that happen. She’s sweet and always helping others, he’s hot and determined to get her. The story is fast paced and entertaining.
SWEET ISLAND TEMPTATION by Sammie Ward -4*
Jamaica is the setting for this charming story about Chyna and Nelson. She’s trying to have a relaxing vacation, away from the hurt of being dumped, and he’s working on giving her what she needs. She’s hesitant to give into anything because she knows this is a short visit, but he’s determined to show her that they can be good together. Sweet, sexy, and enjoyable.
MAN ON THE RUN by Gail Hamilton - 4*
This story took me a bit more to get into. It’s a quick read once you establish the rhythm. Lydia is trying to get the last samples of an experimental drug and has to find Damone Reid, a test subject, to get it. She starts questioning her feelings when she believes they might be due to the love potion she’s trying to get back, but lets go and finds out that she really feels for him. When he finds out the reason she’s with him, he believes everything is a lie and a bit of drama takes place. The story is sweet.
NEVER SAY NO TO LOVE by Dominque LeSane -4*
Forty-something May is divorced and hasn’t been on a date in a long time, so when her best friend takes her out to a club, the attention she receives from a handsome young man baffles her. After meeting this way several times, she finally agrees to go with him on a “date”. The story was sweet and I liked reading about a woman who doesn’t let her age deter her from finding happiness, but I thought that it moved a bit slow at the beginning and then too fast once she got with D. I still enjoyed reading it.
MOUNTAIN LOVE by Tinisha Johnson -4*
Dahlia is not looking for love, but she finds quite the adventure at a Colorado cabin. When she meets Jackson, a football player for the Denver Broncos, she’s mesmerized by his looks and the attention he gives her. I liked the fact that although he was attentive and showed interest, she didn’t let his status as the hunky man every woman wanted get to her. She continued to be herself and showed strength and didn’t let herself be swayed by his fame or stepped on by anyone. Their relationship progressed at a good pace. Although the story was short, I thought it developed well.
May has been divorced for a while and unlike her bestie, keeping herself fit and fine is for her, not for the guys she likes to be with—of course, that could be because she hasn't been with any in so long. They both decide it's time to change that. With that in mind, she didn't have a younger, much younger, man in her plan--until she met D.
Can she let it happen, take a chance? Is she in for heartbreak, or a one nighter? Read this short one with a mature lady lead and see where it takes them. It won't take a lot of time but it will leave you with a good feeling.
