I loved "Little House" books as a child. I'm wondering if there are any "adult" books out there that are as heartwarming and have similar themes. Any suggestions?

Not on the 'same' theme but of excellent reading is "Up A Road Slowly" by Irene Hunt. A marvellous story that I think you will enjoy and fully recommend. I hope this helps.

Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier

There's a really fun part when the two women rebuild an abandoned farm. It's descriptive they way Laura is when telling us how to make bullets or render bear grease.

You might consider 'Christy' by Catherine Marshall. It takes place later in time, but the title character goes into an incredibly poor, rural part of the mountains to teach, so there's very much a pioneer feeling about the way of life.

I suggest Abraham and Anna. It's set in the 18th century, but has similarities to the Little House on the Prairie series.

I replied to a similar thread with this but really anything by Janette Oke. I personally loved the "Women of the West" series. Maybe a little corny but what isn't :)
