Let’s begin with the criticism and then I will move on to the undeniable beauty of the book.
First, the book picks up exactly where it left off with Antonia about to get raped again by her aunt’s boyfriend. She is rescued, surprisingly by her cousin Porsha. However, there is more to this family than meets the eye and that is part of the problem. Her secrets are annoying Jaheim. Without giving too much of the story away, Antonia feels as if she remembers Jaheim’s homeboy from somewhere and she is afraid to tell him how. He questions his dude but the guy denies that he knows Antonia. Well, when one of her baby cousins gets shot, I find it awfully convenient that the cousin is related to her in another way…
Not only that, I think the author meant to say Porsha instead of Shaniqua(Jaheim’s sister) which confused me a bit- could just be a typo.
Another gripe is that this book was way too short for me, the rest of the book are sample books which look just as interesting but I spent the four bucks looking for a longer story- oh well.
The amazing thing about this book are the twists and turns and the psychosis of each party involved. Antonia, no doubt is beautiful and smart as heck! The girl has a full ride to college and was featured in the media, which made her haters even more jealous if that is even possible.
Again, this author’s strength is her storytelling ability, placing us right there with Jaheim and Antonia’s love, crying with them, rooting for them and hoping they make right decisions. I would buy the final installment, but for the Kindle edition it is whopping ten bucks. Not sure if I will get it soon.
