I am a preschool teacher and was excited to see The Little Squeegy Bug available on Kindle. I love the book and couldn't wait to add it to my Kindle collection. Once it downloaded, I was extremely disappointed! It is way too small to see! A child in my lap still cannot appreciate all that is going on because of the size. They should be able to reformat the pages to fit Kindle like they do for a movie on tv! LOL

The little squeegy bug didn't know who or what he was. He wasn't an ant or a cricket or even a flea and he wanted to find his purpose in life. When he met Buzzer the Bumblebee, he decided he wanted to be special, just like him. But how could he find a pair of silver wings and a stinger? Buzzer tells Squeegy he'll have to touch the sky to get a beautiful pair of silver wings like his. So that's just what he tried to do. He spent three days climbing the tallest thing he knew of, a cattail, certain it must touch the sky. But on the third evening, he was caught in a terrible storm and saved from certain disaster by a very nice caterpillar, who took him in and gave him a place to sleep. The next morning, the two travel to the web at the very end of the cattail and consult with the all-knowing, Haunchy the Spider. Haunchy weaves Squeegy a beautiful pair of silver wings for his back. But there is no stinger. Instead, Haunchy reaches up and grabs the brightest star in the night sky, attaches it to Squeegy's bottom and names him Squeegy the Firefly, the Lamplighter of the Sky..... Originally published in 1946, Bill Martin Jr, Michael Sampson and Pat Corrigan have teamed up to create this new version of a timeless classic. Their gentle, magical, understated text is enhanced by their high-tech geometric illustrations and together they've authored an innovative and creative story that will mesmerize youngsters with its simple message and bright, bold, textured artwork. Perfect for kids 4-8, The Little Squeegy Bug is an uplifting treasure to read and share again and again, and pass down from one generation to the next.

I will leave my original review below but had to come back to edit it. I was home one Saturday when the Amazon Kindle Team called me because they saw my review. The really nice tech person on the phone said YES, you can make the text much larger. Just fast double tap on the text and it gets large and very readable. Tap and it goes back. I was incredibly impressed with the fact they they called ma and the solution works perfectly. They did not ask me to change or edit my review but I decided that so many people were missing out because they didn't know how to make the text bigger. It is a great story and now, really great on the Kindle. Below is the original review.

Let me be clear - the story and illustrations are terrific. This is the book that every single night my toddler asks me to read. He loves the story and has a few sentences memorized that he loves to say at the right time in the story.

The problem is with the Kindle edition. The text is so tiny the first time I wasn't even sure I could make out the words. You can't change the type size here, unlike regular Kindle books. Thankfully I almost have the story memorized but I still stumble occasionally because the words are just so darn small.

I should note that I didn't think I would like using the Kindle to read to my toddler in bed. I love the Kindle for myself but I thought I mistakenly thought that I would miss having real books for my younger son -- especially since we have possibly hundreds of books from my older son. I was wrong. Once he passed two and could resist toughing the screen the Kindle has been great. I can lay in bed and have all the books at my fingers so he can easily select what to read. When we travel I bring my Kindle for both of us and not a bag full of books.

A family classic that we originally discovered at our local library. I recently introduced it to newer family members and the story was immediately taken into their hearts. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to locate additional copies to send to them so they can continue the memorable bedtime storytimes that I had with them during my visits. They loved it.

My Aunt read this book to me when I was very young, and I long remembered how much I enjoyed it. I got this newer version for my grand kids and with the big beautiful graphics it's now one of their favorites too!

This is a great story that my 2 and 3 year old love. It is meant for a slightly older audience, but if you can help your child understand, can be enjoyed even by the very young, like my kids.

As an elementary teacher, I would say that this story would be enjoyed by students in Pre-k to 2nd grade. Illustrations are eye-catching and vocabulary is challenging.

My only wish is that you were able to zoom in on one page at a time when reading. I read this story on my ipad and you can only look at a 2 page span. The reason is that the pictures are continuous on many of the pages. The illustrations are very detailed and I would like to be able to show these details to my kids. This is not possible even through pinch zoom. If it were, I would rate this book 5 stars.
