We had the standard orange and blue Little Tikes slide when we were kids, and I definitely remember it being made of a sturdier plastic, similar to what the picnic tables and playhouses are made of. This is a thinner, shinier plastic that seems like it'll break easily.

I probably should have spent a little more on a Step 2 slide, but this was part of their Easter present last year and I didn't want to go too overboard.

I will say that no matter what the quality, my 1 and 2 year olds loved it. For weeks, and especially on that first morning, they were constantly going down that slide. I liked how easy it was for my littlest to get up the ladder. Even my 7-year-old (6 at the time), who is way too big for it, wanted in on the action.

I got the slide for my 18 months daughter. She is on the "skinny side" and the seat of the slide was too narrow for her. After she climbed up she couldn't get her legs to the front. Also, the side handles are very low. I don't recommend this product at all.

Bought this for our church day care and when a child climbs up the ladder (2 year old), the front of the slide lifts off the ground. The handles at the top of the slide pull out very easily making this a dangerous toy. I am sending the one we bought back and looking for another option. I hate to write negative and am very surprised it has got all this positive feedback.

Awesome! Came a day early! Box was so light weight I was sure they had just sent me and empty box 😜 very sturdy, don't see it tipping over with such a wide base at the stairs and end of slide. The steps have a little bit of no slip grip, not a lot but she is in socks and she isn't having any slipping issues.
Slide and steps and small bag of instructions with the two handles all slid out easy enough. Of course the baby was trying to climb the slide end as I'm trying to snap the steps in, that was super fun. So I got the steps snapped in which didn't take much effort but of course I pushed on it like 7 more time just to be sure and the handles went in fairly easy but I am the dumb mom who doesn't read instructions on a four piece baby slide and I had to turn the handles around and switch sides like 4 times but I did it! Aaaaand.... DONE! Endless fun for baby and now I can finish the dang laundry without her "helping" me.
I did notice that socks are a must as any skin to slide action will stop her dead in her tracks. No one likes rubber butt going down a slide😬 so I recommend pants and socks, shoes will not be good on this slide.
Only thing that I can think of is that it was a little more steep than I thought it would be but as always this first time mom worried that her 1 1/2 year old wouldn't be able to handle a higher angle than expected- and as always I am proved wrong. Maddie is a beginner slider and has only been on one other baby slide on her own without help for about one hour, the rest of her sliding experience has been with me and dada when we go to the big slide at the park, she is a master already and it's only been a couple hours.
She is just fine with the higher angle and it's such a quick ride anyways- this mommy has no worries as of yet.
But I'm assuming she will soon learn to stand at the top of the step at which point I will have a heart attack and curse myself for buying the slide Bahahaha
Also I noticed that it is a thinner plastic then the other slide I looked at, it is flimsier but I don't see it being a problem as my daughter is not a "rough" toddler as I know some can be- I watch some kids play and they like to push things over and throw things, not in a bad way just that they like to use their muscles and be more hands on where as little Maddie is a "soft" happy baby that likes to color and play in the garden and slide! If you have a "rough" or "tough" baby that will be pushing this over and jumping off the sides then I would suggest one with a playhouse base. They cost a little more but you will not have to worry about any tipping then.
Great product! Loads of fun for a little mind that is easily amused 😍
Yay slide! Yay babies! Hope this helps!

Bought for our 14 month boys to use indoors-the only place I would recommend using it. Our 3yo gets just as much use out of it despite his outdoor playset as the weather is changing.

The alternative we considered was 3x the price and a bit taller. I am guessing the pricier (latter...pun intended) option is also more sturdy.

The slide is very easy to tip both side to side and from the ladder end if kids lean back while climbing. It is not the quality that I expect from Step2 but its not as expensive either. The ladder is dimensionally stable despite not being blow-molded, however the slide is a relatively thin flat piece of plastic that is pressed in the shape. The slide it distorts and twists easily compared to other slides that are blow molded (having a hollow space inside of four distinct sides?)

My experience is that you can spend a lot of money on the higher-end play equipment but it won't make much of a difference in the time kids are entertained. As soon as you know it the kids have outgrown this type of item and it makes its way to Goodwill, passed on to others, or god forbid sent to the landfill.

So just save the extra cash for their college fund and buy this one. I really don't think the slide is going to break or fall over while climbing or sliding but it's worth noting that it is a little flimsy and the little ones can easily tip it over if they want (which quickly gets old for them when they realize they can't use it on its side.)

Lasted about a week before the handle broke off. No kids over the age of 2 played with this and the handle broke within a half hour of it being out for my sons 1st Birthday. It's a shame as everyone was enjoying it before it broke!!

This slide is not a heavy plastic, but a more thin plastic, as people have mentioned. However, it works for me, as it is light and easy to move around. My daycare children love it. No one has flipped it over, no one has fallen off, no one has had any issues. Children from 1.5 to 3.5 years have used it so far and it has brought lots of fun indoors and out. Since it is so light, I can grab it on my way out for outdoor play, or for the porch. The colors are nice and bright. It was easy to put together. We did realize that the handles have to be pushed down, then slid into place so they won't come off. Hard to explain. It took us a minute to figure out the extra step, as we were just pushing down to hear the snap then it would still come off on one side. So not sure if that is the issue with others, but that was all we needed to do. The handles have stayed on just fine. Here is my only complaint. The slide description says it folds for easy storage. Well, that is not accurate. You have to pop the stairs off, then clip them onto the "hook" on the back of the slide for storage. Now, that is fine, but it isn't the easiest to do since you have already securely snapped the stairs into place. My fear is, the more I take the stairs off, the more wear they will receive at the point where they pop into the slide. So I do not plan on taking the stairs off to "fold" down the slide. I will just leave it as it is. I was expecting it to fold like other slides I looked at. Not a big deal for me, but wanted to note it for others. Other than that, it is a great slide and we are very happy.

Raising our kids in the 80's and 90's we bought anything with the Little Tikes name on it. It was always good quality and safe. Generally, this has been true of the toys we've purchased more recently for our grandkids. However, this slide is a flimsy piece of garbage! We had Little Tikes slides for our kids and they were safe, stable and nearly indestructible. This new version is cheap. As many other reviewers have noted, the handles come off, sending children tumbling over backwards with handles in hand. Even the "convenient" storage device on the bottom of the slide is placed perfectly to stab children in the head when they inevitably hide under the slide. My first thought was that Little Tikes must have outsourced production overseas somewhere, but no, this slide in made in the USA. This one is going back and we will search yard sales for the real deal.

My son loves his slide. He has recently learned to climb up on his own (16 months). Anchoring support is not included. Supervision is necessary to prevent a toddler from toppling backwards when his/her weight might elevate the slide off of the ground.

First of all- this slide is made of very thin and flimsy plastic. As my son climbed up the stairs and put tension on the handles, the entire slide lifted off the ground. I have to hold the bottom of the slide down while he uses it just so he can be safe. I also experienced the same issue many others did with the handles. I did however finally notice that they needed to be snapped in harder and they seem to be on sturdy however I do not know for how long. Major safety problem as if the handles rip off in your child's hand they will go flying backward. I feel like this item should be recalled. My plan is to return it and purchase one of better quality but will have to see what kind of hassle it will be to return it. I am incredibly disappointed with this item. Due to the major safety issues with it not being heavy enough to stay grounded when a child climbs up the stairs as well as handles falling off, Amazon should not be selling this item. I urge all parents to purchase a better quality slide of a different brand. How can you produce children's toys that present a safety risk and call yourself a toy manufacturer?
