Little Women was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869. Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist and poet born in 1832 in Pennsylvania. Raised in New England, she was familiar with many of the famous writers of the time, including Emerson, Hawthorne, Thoreau and Longfellow. Sometimes using the pen name, A. M. Barnard, she wrote novels for young adults and penned her most famous work, Little Women, in 1868 and 1869. She was an abolitionist and a feminist and remained unmarried throughout her life. She died from a stroke, two days after her father died, in Boston in 1888.

She wrote a number of novels in her lifetime. SeaWolf Press has published 8 of them:

I don’t know which is more bemusing, that it took me a few decades to get to this classic or that it was trending #1 in Children’s Ancient Civilization Fiction when I went to order it. It appears to be out of rotation in today’s classrooms and that’s a shame. The messaging is uplifting and positive. The themes include sacrifice, greater good, serenity, forgiveness, achievement, personal satisfaction and accomplishment, strength of family. Written in 1868 it gives a glimpse of history through a social lens, it’s timeless for its lessons on life.

Kindle Readers: I would not recommend this Kindle edition. The formatting doesn’t include chapter breaks, X-ray does not work, reading time left in chapter and page numbers were also missing. Around Chapter 32 swaths of text were missing at the top of each page turn (changing the font size solved this problem). ymmv.

While it's great to see the original illustrations in this 150th anniversary edition of Little Women, I hope they'll find a better company to bind them. The pages seem thick enough, and the binding feels secure. But -- as at least one other review mentioned -- even when you lay the book flat there are weird gaps between the pages. Surely they could do a better job.
