Editorial Reviews

Review

"Kate's cartoons walk right up to breast cancer, punch it in the nose and give it a wedgie."
Syndicated Cartoonist Jerry Scott (Zits, Baby Blues)

"I've looked at the book several times, reading and re-reading the cartoons.  I like it more each time I read it."

Lisa Langford, (notthenewyorktimesbookreview.blogspot.com/)

From the Author

After being diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in 2010, I underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and reconstruction.  It was scary and overwhelming and I at first , I spent way too much time thinking about all the bad things that might happen to me.  I'd often wished that I could draw, and had even started taking classes when cancer showed up and derailed my life.  Cartooning was the perfect way for me to get a bit of perspective. It allowed me to share my feelings and experiences in a positive way.  Plus, cancer patients are some of the funniest people I know!  I am sure that lots of other cancer patients have great ideas for cartoons.  Let's share them with each other and fight back with humor! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Kate Matthews has done an outstanding job creating cartoons which deal with a difficult situation
and are sure to put others at ease who struggle with health issues. This light hearted book will be appreciated by anyone including health care workers. I particularly enjoyed how Mrs Matthews is able to infuse human and personal elements to her cartoons.

They might not be funny to everyone, but to those of us who have had the experience they can be, and we are legion. This was a cute, albeit short, book about the subject. The drawings were good too!

This was a true to life book. It hit on all the problems I experienced. It is always better to laugh than cry, and having a positive approach to this horrible disease helped me bunches. Only problem is I could use more jokes.

Great not for just breast cancer survivors, but people with any type of cancer, people who know or love someone with cancer, people who are afraid of getting cancer, and people who don't have cancer. That's --everyone! As a cancer survivor, I can say it's such a relief to read Kate's (mostly) cancer cartoons and have a good laugh over the big C and life in general. Wonderfully funny, honest, and insightful.

I find the Little Pink Book of Cancer Cartoons to be a wonderful diversion from the seriousness that is cancer. Sometimes laughing at the absurdity of the various cancer realities is what a person needs and wants to do. The cartoons in this book are witty and just plain funny. I visit Kate Matthews' Facebook page nearly every day because I know I'll always find something to smile about. Now I've got the book too! This book is just plain fun and that's pretty darn nice because cancer certainly is anything but.

Breast cancer patients will nod their heads in recognition as they read through this book. If you know anybody in your life who is going through this awful disease, this book is sure to brighten their day. Nothing can make breast cancer a pleasant experience but Kate captures the emotions and problems with droll humor. Would be great in any gift basket for the cancer patient.
