Amazing Game 10/10

Amazing Game 10/10
A PlayStation 3 classic! A game that should be on every PlayStation 3 owner's shelf. Even if you aren't the creative type, the story levels and many already existing levels created by other online are more than worth the money. That plus the extra dlc bundler with the game of the year version make it a must buy.

I had heard about this game but constantly put off getting it. Then I heard about all the awards it was getting. I was like, I love 2D games, I love Mario and Sonic. Shadow Complex was a great Next-Gen 2D game. But what game could possibly be worth all that praise for a 2D game in 2009/2010. Well I downloaded the demo...I was sold in about 2 minutes. Immediately it becomes clear why the game is so much fun. It isn't a game that takes ideas, this game truly is innovation. The game not only allows you to customize sack boy but also customize just about anything in some way. All sorts of hidden things to be found. There is always about 3-4 panes of the 2D gameplay. I have never played a 2D game with so many areas one can explore. I've played two pane 2D games on Neo Geo games such as Top Hunter. But this is something else. The funny thing is, from pictures, you may think the graphics are nothing special. But actually hands-on playing it. Graphically, there is really no 2D game quite like it. Its one of a kind. The gameplay is always fun, sometimes puzzling. You can go at things easy, or you can challenge youself to find all the hidden items. Since the hidden items can actually be used for customization or creation. It makes wanting to find these hidden items much more important then in most other 2D games with hidden objects. The game of the year edition includes several fan made levels and some dlc extras such as the metal gear solid snake pack. Cool little extras, but the game is great as is. My only issue with the game, is the controls can be a little hit or miss. Because the 2D levels have so many panes. Sometimes I find myself skipping into another pane unintentionally. Also if your pushing an item, once it can no longer be pushed, the controls automatically move you up a pane. That actually be a bit annoying because I can't tell if I did it by accident or if the game did it on purpose. I wish they just let me push the object and then stop. I can move myself to the next pan if I want to. But none of that is big enough to hurt the game. Its marvelous. Deserves all its praise.
I don't care how hardcore a gamer you may be. How Killzone 2 or Resistence 2 you may be. Give this game a shot. Its truly worth it's price and then some.

I love playing games but what I enjoy most about gaming is having people you enjoy playing games with. I've been looking for a good Playstation 3 multi-player game and this is definitely the best one out there right now in my opinion. My wife is not an avid gamer but as a young teenager her and her sisters did play Donkey Kong on the Super Nintendo and she loved it. So when I saw screen shots of this game the side-scrolling action looked like something that would be familiar to her and simple enough to play and that was enough for me to buy the game.

The entire concept of the game is quite unlike anything I've played. The whole idea of creating costumes, placing stickers, custom levels, makes this game appear more to the female segment than it otherwise might. But at the same time, the endless levels, side-scrolling action, puzzles, and difficult game play will not disappoint a hard-core gamer. The most amazing thing I've found about this game is how much of a party game it is in our family.

We will get a four-player game going when our family gets together after Sunday dinner and everyone spends about the first 5 minutes customizing their character and then we all start playing a level together. Because there are so many save points throughout levels, even beginners who die quite frequently still stay engaged as their sack person comes back to life at each save point. The blend of creativity, great multi-player functionality, and the ability of this game to hold the attention of seasoned gamers is what makes this game a knock-out in my opinion. Just last night my wife was saying that she wanted to play Little Big Planet for a half of an hour. And if she, as a non-gamer, is asking to play a game without me having to coax her into it then that means the game itself is really, really good.

Past reviews aside, I figured that this game wouldn't appeal to me as an adult and was more of a kid's game. I was pleasantly surprised when I played this game and realized that its for both. Now I should note that I'm a bit behind the power-curve on this one in that I only just played it a few weeks ago. I was turned onto it after playing the Little Big Planet 2 playable demo. I then immediately bought the first one through Amazon. The charming thing about this game is that it uses simplistic controls (even though the PS3 controller has more buttons than it needs to at times). There is no ultra violent moments and keeps you entertained as the levels and challenges can keep you coming back repeatedly for each level. The graphics do not test the full limits of the PS3 console but are well designed and visually appealing.

A con in this game is its potential difficulty for younger players. Some of the levels are definately more difficult than some levels that children may experience on Nintendo games. However, there are a wide range of levels that can keep even the younger players attention. Another con is the fact that this game will likely make you want to get the DLC and buy the Playstation eye...the game is that good.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but after playing this game I wonder why there are even a few poor reviews. This game is a refreshing spin on gaming that won't make you stab or decapitate anyone, it won't make you shoot someone until your fingers are sore from repeatedly hitting a button, and it shouldn't keep you glued to your TV in some addicted multiplayer mode that wastes far too much of your time. I would recommend this game to anyone and it looks like the franchise will have a long life.

I loved this game back when it came out, and I lost it in a breakup with my ex. Now I have it again and it's such a sweet, cute game. Great environment design and really good for non-competitive game play that just lets you play around and have fun. Be a kid again with this game!

I was sceptical of what this would be like and when it began to run I thought Oh gee.. how silly, but as it progressed it was more and more fun. I can now understand why it's the Game of the Year. You have to play it to understand.
