I purchased this as a Kindle Daily Deal & while I hesitate to try a new author - I'm in a rut - I liked that people such as Barbara Walters and Al Roker spoke highly of the author and the book. I was not disappointed. Every twist & turn had me hesitating about stopping for the night to sleep. It was well written by someone who obviously knows his way around a TV station & I found the topic extremely on target. I don't get into the story of the books I read & review - why give away even the slightest hint as to what is coming? So looking forward to starting the next in the series. Job well done, Mr. Diamond. Thumbs up!

Well, first off, I now have a reasonable understanding of what a TV producer does, and it’s impressive indeed. The author is an expert on the subject, with 40 years experience at all levels. There is no let down in this book, nor is there empty fill as found in too many action books. The fast and interesting pace is maintained throughout. The story line is certainly interesting, with its twists and developments, and very well written. There is no aspect of this story which is beyond reality, on either side of the law or news investigation considerations. This is a fast paced investigative story line which will capture and hold one’s interest. Would this story make a good film? Absolutely.

I don't like giving one-star reviews, but this book was so tedious, so boring, so repetitious. For example, the main character is followed by two men in a black Navigator. I'll never forget the car model because I'm told over and over, chapter after chapter, that two men are following him in a black Navigator. The set-up is formulaic, but it's the ending that is absurd. I don't want to spoil the ending, but this would never happen except in a B movie.

I'm not sure why his colleagues from ABC were willing to contribute comments favorable to this book, but I couldn't get past Chapter 14. It is amateurish, at best. For someone who has been around media, and presumably, entertainment people, events and elements, Diamond has not absorbed the finer points of dialogue or plot development. This was painful to read.

This book is about what it takes behind-the-scenes of true investigating reporter shows. We don't have them any more, don't even turn on the TV any more. Author first hand knowledge of this subject makes is exciting and informative. But don't like the main character Benson, maybe he'll stop drinking and stop smoking. Will be reading the next book.
