Product Description

Named by Rolling Stone as one of 2005 s Top Ten Artists to Watch, Amos Lee has opened for Bob Dylan and toured with Norah Jones. Pretty heady stuff for a 27-year-old from south Philadelphia who had just quit his last job teaching elementary school and released his first-ever album. Critics and music buffs alike were so enamored by his quiet, understated but soulful singing style that it seemed he could do no wrong.

This performance, recorded on August 10, 2005, captures all the gems from that first album and then some. Possibly nothing sums it up better than the simply beautiful Arms Of A Woman, which sounds like an instant classic that could ve come from the likes of Ray Charles. Unlike Ray, Amos was a late bloomer, more interested in basketball than music, until he majored in English in college and tried his hand at songwriting to fine-tune his poetry. Working in a jazz record store and listening to Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk only deepened his passion to pursue his own musical muse. Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight runs the gamut, and Bottom Of The Barrel is a place we can all relate to.

I have been a Trace fan from the start and I can't see him live in concert often enough. I have wished and said for years that I wish he would release a live concert video/DVD. You know, something to carry me through until I can see him again live in concert when he is in my area again. Well, it was certainly worth the wait! This is absolutely amazing! Any country music fan will enjoy this DVD, you don't have to be "just a Trace fan". If you like country music, you'll like this! But if you love Trace, that makes it even more special! Thanks Trace for releasing this, I really, really needed it. Love it! Can't recommend it enough.

First, I agree with the 1st 2 reviewers, this is a great concert by Trace Adkins, on the Austin City Limits TV show. Trace is a CMT Award Winner. This concert was filmed on September 14, 1997. It includes some of Trace's best songs, from his early career as an American Country Music Star. He has a great band backing him on this DVD. The total running time is only about 56 minutes, but every performance is simply, very enjoyable. I only wish it were longer, but I'm very thankful, for this DVD.

Trace has had a very interesting & remarkable life. He's been through a lot of tough things, and has had some very remarkable experiences. I think all of this, has made him the great singer-songwriter, that he is today. He's for real, his songs are about real life experiences.

Trace is very patriotic, and has performed for our troops, many, many times.

Trace is from a small town, in Northwest Louisiana, named Sarepta. There is a sign there stating that Sarepta is the "Hometown of Country Music Star, Trace Adkins". They are proud of him, and so am I. Trace stated out singing in a Gospel Quartet. Also, Trace played Football at my alma mata, Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana. Trace studied Petroleum Engineering, at Louisiana Tech. LA.Tech, is where I earned my M.B.A. degree. Trace is a big fellow, 6'6", and he has worked on offshore drilling rigs in Louisiana, and Texas. He has also been a finalist on the Donald Trump's TV show, "The Celebrity Apprentice". He has a wealth of experience, just do a "google" search on him and you'll see.

This is a great DVD. It's a great DVD with great video/audio, but feels more tame than his live shows. At the live shows, he and the band play with the songs and make them sound a lot different than the studio versions. While there is some variation from the studio tracks, it's definitely more in line with his studio albums. If you're new to Amos Lee, I 3000% recommend this DVD. If you've been to a live show, you might be a little let down by how much more tame this show is, but it's still a great show.

This video shows an emerging artist of power and importance early in his career. The songwriting, vocal range, sensitivity and phrasing are first rate. And the band has great chemistry with Amos. About as good as it gets for content. And the sound and video are surprisingly good too.

We had another large earthquake yesterday. I listened to this DVD last night when the power came back on. Amos Lee's beautiful voice and soulful sound really helped calm the nerves. This DVD is one of my all time favourites.
I recommend it to everyone who loves great music and talented singer/songwriters. I hope he's going to be releasing another DVD real soon.

We're fans of Amos Lee and were pleased with this DVD. He has an unusual delivery and is fascinating to watch perform. He is vulnerable, unpredictable (which is awesome in the market today)and delivers wonderfully lyrical music that is easy to listen to. This isn't a dance DVD, this is R&J, blues, jazz and creole all rolled into one. Maybe "prince-like" for his wonderful phrasing, Keb-Mo for his cadence, throw a little Van Morrison and John Prine in there and you almost have Amos Lee. Great part is he is Amos Lee, unique unto his own and we love him! This is one to watch and then listen to on those winter nights, rainy days and hanging on the porch in summer with your friends. Austin City does nice productions, the only drawback I think about this one is that you can see the fun in his face when he talks and no doubt, they focused on producing the DVD so little banter......he's really more interactive than this one portrays. Other than that - this rocks. Merry Christmas to me!
