Throw away the CD. If you want audio only, rip the audio from the DVD. The DVD is the whole show, the CD (and the mp3 album) are edited versions of the full concert. (The mp3 album is longer then the CD, but still edited). They all use the same audio mix.
Speaking of the audio mix. This is a stereo only mix. So no 5.1 surround. But that's fine, this is a low budget release, and it does sound a bit 'raw'. But that works for Kix, they were never the pretty boy 80's band, they are far closer to AC/DC then Bon Jovi. The guitars are crunchy and cranked up you really feel like you are at the concert. This is still a professional mix, and there is so little live Kix out there. The Kix Live album (their only other live album) by comparison has a slightly more polished sound.
The set list is AMAZING. For anyone remotely into Kix, this is a dream setlist. You get 4 songs from the first album, 4 from Midnight Dynamite, 5 from Blow My Fuse and the 3 big ones from Hot Wire. So you get ALL the really popular songs, plus a few excellent lesser known tracks, and a good representation of their career. Blows away the Kix Live album from the early 90's. (For Shame, which is here, is the only thing they ever play from the 2nd album - there is a great FM boot from that tour any Kix fan should get as it has songs the never played live after that tour. Nothing on here is from their last album, Show Business, which they do play a track from occasionally. Would have been ok as it's a fine album, but very few actually know it!)
I was most impressed when I played the CD for people who never really listened to KIX, and EVERY PERSON loved it. Check it out. This stacks up to anything they ever did, and should earn them some new fans, too.
This DVD captures the energy of their live performance. If you haven't seen them live, this DVD is the next best thing to being there. The set starts off with No Ring Around Rosie and rocks on to last song Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. A couple of slower songs are included, Don't Close Your Eyes, and a great acoustic version of For Shame. If you are a Kix fan, you will like the DVD.
