Editorial Reviews

Little Feat are one of the most influential American bands of the seventies. Founded by Lowell George and Bill Payne in L.A. during 1969; they produced a series of highly original albums over the next decade featuring an eclectic blend of rock 'n' roll, blues, country, folk, soul, and jazz before the death of Lowell George in 1979, which brought the first phase of the band's existence to an end. This CD & DVD set captures the band's performance at the famous Dutch festival Pinkpop on June 7th, 1976 and captures the band's classic line-up at the peak of their powers performing many of their best known tracks.

Fans of LITTLE FEAT, especially the classic Lowell George era, can rejoice, Eagle Vision has released LIVE IN HOLLAND, the source of the extra footage on the Rockpalast Live DVD. Filmed at Holland's PinkPop Festival a year before the Rockpalast concert, the band perform material from SAILIN' SHOES, DIXIE CHICKEN, FEATS DON'T FAIL ME NOW and THE LAST RECORD ALBUM. The sound on the 11 Track CD is good, with excellent stereo separation, just a little fuzzy here and there. Opener "Skin It Back" is a little rough in the beginning until the sound mixer gets it together, which is usually the case on '70's concert recordings, and the vocal mic drops out a bit on "One Love Stand," but that might have been Lowell George turning away momentarily. In between those they bring the funk with "Fat Man In The Bathtub." George and the band are at their apex, with his stinging singing razor sharp slide guitar and soulful growling voice in full flower. Everyone seems to be having a good time as well, occasionally throwing percussion instruments and picks into the crowd. Lowell's guitar duel with Paul Barrere on "Oh, Atlanta" is one of the discs many highlights.Read more ›

This package included the DVD, and I guess I missed the fine print because I wasn't expecting that. But I'm so glad it did. We haven't seen nearly enough Lowell George on camera. He amazes with his casual style that belies his extreme talent. Watch him rip into perfectly-intoned slide guitar solos a couple of beats behind his vocal lines. It's amazing. The sound is a little grainy and lo-fi, but that was to be expected. Don't "Wait For Columbus" -- that is a whole other dimension. This is certainly more real, and a great illustration of how the band operated. I docked it one star for the awkward camera angles and general weirdness of the stage set-up, which did not lend itself to good band communication and was way too high above the crowd. The band is disconnected visually but they make up for it by reading each others musical moves perfectly. This was well worth the investment. I'll play it any time I want to try to convert someone to the mighty powers of Mr. George.

GET THIS! Finally...The dvd is priceless, great quality, the band is cookin'. The dvd is missing two tunes that are on the great quality cd..no film? If only there was more officially released stuff from earlier Little Feat outside of the Musicladen dvd. If you can find it, the London show with Mick Taylor is great; similar era. But this……THIS is a great outdoor show! You are onstage with the band, pro-shot multiple cameras, fine sound. Wow! If you are a Feat fan, do not hesitate; buy this now! Thank you whoever made up their minds to release this.. 38 years!!!... later. Who knows what else is out there?

Talk about being transported back in time!! These guys used to come through Arkansas back in the mid to late '70's as part of the southern rock circuit with Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels et al. This is exactly how I remember them playing in the old Barton Coliseum! Their brand of southern fried rock with swingin' soul/funk was always a crowd pleaser! This cd/dvd set captures them at the height of their Lowell George infused powers! Great stuff! If you care anything about Little Feat you need to pick this one up!

Those amazing folks over at Eagle Rock Entertainment have opened their vaults to release Little Feat’s Live In Holland 1976 as a CD + DVD set. These discs are the first ever release of this concert in any format.

The CD+DVD set captures Little Feat’s barn-burnin’ performance at the famous Dutch festival Pinkpop on June 7 1976, and features the band’s classic line-up of Lowell George (vocals, guitar); Bill Payne (keyboards, vocals); Richie Hayward (drums); Paul Barrere (vocals, guitar); Sam Clayton (percussion) and Kenny Gradney (bass).

This legendary line-up performs fan favorites like Rock And Roll Doctor, Dixie Chicken, Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, Skin It Back, Teenage Nervous Breakdown, Fat Man In A Bathtub, and many more.

Little Feat is one of the most influential American bands of the seventies. Founded by Lowell George (formerly of Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention) and Bill Payne in L.A. in 1969, Little Feat produced a series of highly original albums over the next decade. They mastered an eclectic blend of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, country, folk, soul and jazz before the death of Lowell George in 1979 ending the first phase of the band’s existence. The band’s earthy, organic approach blended with their top-notch musicianship solidified their legacy in the musical landscape. The four surviving members of this classic line-up are still performing and recording as Little Feat today.
