This is a fantastic video, and must have been a mind-blowing concert to watch. I can totally see the Japanese just lapping up this type of avant-garde music! This video was shot in the year after King Crimson re-formed as a 6-piece (double trio, 2 guitars, 2 bass, 2 drummers), and it shows them as they start really hitting their stride live. The individual members are all dead on (for 99% of the video), and all the songs are given excellent renditions. Particularily good versions include:
- Frame by Frame
- B'Boom
- VROOM VROOM
- The Talking Drum --> LTiA II
- Double bass improv before Elephant Talk
- Indiscipline
Like I say, the band members are all giving great performances individually and collectively. Trey Gunn in particular is an excellent soloist on the high register of his Warr guitar and Tony and he do a fantastic improv duet with Tony on Chapman Stick. One funny little screw-up part that is BARELY noticible is during Elephant Talk or Indiscipline (I can't remember) where Pat Mastellotto throws in a fill that sounds a little too loud in the mix, and the camera immediately cuts to Robert Fripp who has an involuntary look of disapproval (OK, so it made ME laugh, just to see that this MONSTER band is actually comprised of real humans), but like I say you have to look to see it.
By no means is that a complaint, but some of the real complaints that I have are that (as at least one other reviewer had noted), there is one or more camera angles that shake (as if the band was causing an earthquake or something), and this effect is very 80's. Also the colors are kind of washed out, also very 80's (any bets that the person who directs their films is the same one that did so in the 80's?

This is one of the most amazeing concert videos I have ever seen! Fripp is a magician on the guitar. All of your favorites are on this video from all the "colored" albums. Back in 1994 I paid $85.00 for this video an it was worth every penny.

I was thrilled to get this title, until I watched it. The band is in great form, the music fantastic, this must have been a great couple of shows to see but, the camera editing is maddening! The camera shots are from many different, but fixed angles because they are remote, so as not to distract the members of King Crimson. However, one camera was not stable and kept shaking and they included it in the final edit! Also, the shot from any one camera never lingers long enough to allow you to fully enjoy the players. They have one great angle on Bill Bruford; a camera directly above his head and his fabulous array of drums, but they never let you enjoy the view. As soon as you really get into the scene they switch to another member! I wish that King Crimson would release this concert on DVD and have all the camera angles and every piece of footage there for me to view. I could then watch Tony play the Stick and not move from that shot, or see what the hell Adrian is really doing on his Strat to create those sounds, or I could pick my favorite angle and just watch Bill hold his sticks in that relaxed fashion and dance around his drum set-up to my pure joy!

As a UK fan, I can state that despite my modern top of the range Sony video kit, the quality of this video was extremely disappointing. It is possible that something has been lost in the support of the differing video formats because US viewers don't appear to have this problem. UK buyers beware!

Any fan of crimson or any other prog rock band would agree that this concert is one of the best in Crimson's career. Tha sound, execution and orchestration are simply wonderful. My favorite Crimson crew together!!!
