About the Author

Since releasing their album Jesus Freak, dc Talk has emerged as a leader in the pursuit of melding rock 'n' roll with provocative questions of faith. Although various rock predecessors have examined spiritual issues--U2, Van Morrison, and Bob Dylan immediately come to mind--dc Talk has taken the notion to new lengths, both in commercial terms and depth of artistic exploration. Numerous Dove Awards, three Grammy Awards, two platinum albums, one gold album, and two gold-certified long-form videos attest to the group's ability to bridge the gap between religious and secular audiences. "We are very open about our Christian faith," says Toby McKeehan, "but when we make our records we want to create a musical experience that anyone can immerse themselves in. One of our goals is to encourage listeners to question themselves and to seek out truth."

Authoring the books in the JESUS FREAKS series is the newest venture in an ongoing growth process which began when the three members first met in the mid-1980s while attending college in Virginia. After relocating to Nashville, dc Talk released a series of increasingly ambitious-and successful-albums, beginning with their self-titled 1989 debut; followed by their gold-certified 1990 sophomore album Nu Thang; the platinum-certified 1992 opus Free at Last; 1995's Jesus Freak, a platinum-plus watershed which afforded the group more mainstream success than ever before; and 1998's Supernatural, which reflects the maturity and sophistication of their latest stage of development and growth. They have sold over seven million albums and have won four Grammys.

With Jesus Freaks and Jesus Freaks Volume II: Stories of Revolutionaries Who Changed Their World Fearing God, Not Man, they launch into a new media form to challege readers to question their standards of faith and dedication. By giving these stories a platform from which to be heard, they hope to impact the world in a way they never have before.

Whether forging strong bonds with concert audiences, expressing their faith in the recording studio, or confronting readers with no-compromise stories of commitment, dc Talk strives to treat their audiences as equals rather than receptors. McKeehan says,"We want to create art that encourages people to think about the things we think about-spiritual issues and truth." Max adds, "Just as we all share the idea of caring and conscience, we also share the hunger to find truth and meaning in life."

With Jesus Freaks Volume II, dc Talk once again encourages each of us to set out on our journey to discover our response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Live Like a Jesus Freak - Spend Today as if it Were Your Last, is one of the most inspiring books I have ever read. After reading the first book in the Jesus Freak series I was encouraged by the faith of these Jesus Freaks, but I was also inspired to do more with my faith and to become a Jesus Freak myself. I have always known what it would take to step out and be a Jesus Freak, but this book, "Live Like a Jesus Freak" is very intentional in what a person needs to do. It has helped give me focus in being a Freak. I think one of the most enticing aspects of this book is that it uses real life examples from modern history, coupled with real life examples from the Bible. I was so drawn to this book that I read it in its entirety the first weekend that I owned it!

I recieved this book as a Christmas present and had never read the first book (Jesus Freaks), so I had no idea what to expect. I am not one who likes to read books but I had just started diving into the world of books and decided I might actually read this book. When i opened it's pages I had no idea that I would finish them as fast as I did! This book is incredible because it uses real life stories! Also, it gives you steps and all things essential to live like a Jesus Freak. I will always treasure this book and i reccomend it for ages 14 and up.

I spent a good deal of time crying through the first Jesus Freaks book I read. How unaware I was of persecution still happening today. This second book chronicles some of the same martyrs while including excellent ways to really walk a Christian life. Each chapter includes questions to ask yourself. Showing the reader how to dig deep inside. What would you do different today if you acknowledged tomorrow was not promised to you? How real is your faith?

I read this book and I loved it. It's amazing at the stories they not only tell in it, but if you have trouble understanding things, like I do, it really puts it in perspective for you. You get the big picture of what it's like to be a Jesus Freak. I was afraid to ever become a Jesus Freak. I was one of those people who wanted to be in the Christian world and secular world all at once. But this book really taught me that you can't do both. It also has made me realize how praise to God really does help you get through Hard times. I REALLY recommend this to anyone Teens and Adults. I'm a teen and I read it and it has helped me so much!

These are stories that will make you "spend today as if it were your last". You will be grateful and appreciate who, what, where you are and everyone in your life. Read it

How to Live like a Jesus Freak focuses specifically you and Jesus. Personally written rather than a vague checklist, How to Live like a Jesus Freak talks of the love of Jesus. It shows examples of his grace, faithfulness, and mercy through various stories from The Bible, and personal experiences. It continues to help you through questions of deep thought, and questions that could simply change your life.
