YOUR HOME CAN BE A SAFE HAVEN EVEN WHEN THE WORLD FEELS DISCONNECTED AND DIVIDED
“I think we can all agree that today’s young people are facing issues no previous generation has ever faced.” -Rachel Macy Stafford
Perfect parenting is not required to raise resilient, compassionate, and capable adults. Still, as today’s parents, educators, and leaders attempt to guide the first generation of kids battling technoference, extreme academic pressure, unrealistic expectations, less outdoor time, and more school shootings, it is best if we acknowledge that we do not know for certain how to navigate these waters. Better off are the kids whose parents are willing to rewrite their job description and admit they are up for the task of learning, discovering, and growing right alongside their kids. The new realities of parenting and modeling are challenging, to be sure, but if we are willing to live a life anchored by truth, connection, presence, acceptance, and if we are willing to live love, there is great hope.
Organized into three parts which identify the new roles adults need to embrace in order to relieve pressure and experience real connection with today’s young people:
In part one you’ll learn how to be a truth-teller not a taskmaster. You’ll explore how to extend acceptance and engage in three practices which will become your go-to strategies for nurturing belonging -- one of the most empowering gifts we can offer as it gives kids permission and space to show up bravely, exactly as they are.
In part two you’ll discover how to be an encourager, not an enforcer. As an encourager, kids see us as someone they can count on to walk beside them navigating tricky territories together. You’ll become a respected ally modeling awareness, offering healthy boundaries around technology, and supporting the development of skills for independence.
Part three will help you become a guide, not a half-listener. You’ll discover how to help young people realize the value of their full human potential by speaking openly about the complexities of life, self-care, and mental health. You’ll arm young people with the power of resilience, equipping them to thrive despite the world’s pressures, threats, dangers, and demands.

Loving our kids well as they grow up has more to do with who they are than with who we want them to be. While many parenting books counsel us on how we can get our kids to meet our expectations, Rachel Macy Stafford asks us to take a different approach--to see our kids for who they were created to be, lay down our expectations of who we think they need to become, and come alongside them as guides and companions on their unique journeys. -- Amy McCready, founder of PositiveParentingSolutions.com and the author of The “Me, Me, Me” Epidemic: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Capable, Grateful Kids in an Over-Entitled World, Amy McCready, founder of PositiveParentingSolutions.com and the author of The “Me, Me, Me” Epidemic: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Capable, Grateful Kids in an Over-Entitled World

This book is a must-read for anyone desiring to prepare children to be strong, to be self-assured, and to know that they matter as they face the world, no matter their age. I would also recommend this book to anyone who works with children in an educational or a ministerial role. There is no doubt that the youth of this generation are different from generations before, but their core desire is the same - to be loved. Live Love Now will help you love them the best you can NOW and in the future.
Read this book if you have teens or preteens in your house and are looking for ways to connect with them and show them in tangible ways that you are there to support them as they find their way in the world.
