Live at Montreux 1994
Frequently Bought Together
In 1993, Paul Rodgers released the acclaimed blues based album Muddy Water Blues (now available on Eagle Records) with
contributions from many special guest artists with a shared love for the blues. In July 1994 the tour in support of this album rolled
into Montreux. The regular tour band was joined through the evening by a number of special guests to create a typically unique
Montreux festival performance including an amazing finale of Hoochie Coochie Man where all the guests join in. As well as tracks

This 79 minute set occurred in 1994, not long after the tribute to Muddy Waters album, with the blues humming through the air. This DVD is way more than a Paul Rodgers back catalog of favorites (See set list below). There is not just the Free or Bad Company feel to the sound. There is a great compilation of Blues based songs, with band mates that blaze through the set list.
A few stand-outs are Muddy Water Blues and Good Morning Little School Girl, with Brian May on guitar, being just one of the friends. There are many "Friends" on this disc and plenty of guitar solos. We see some Blues Greats sitting in on the last song Hoochie Coochie Man.
The band and friends are Queen guitarist Brian May, drummer Jason Bonham, Steve Lukather from Toto, and Journey guitarist Neal Schon. Guitarist Ian Hatton, bassist John Smithson and such blues performers and players as Eddie Kirkland, Sherman Robertson, Luther Allison, Robert Lucas and Kenny Neal also appear.

Highly recommended. Hope this helps. j
one caveat: the dvd is in European PAL format & won't play in machines without all region capabilitiy. It plays in my computer OK.
Let me entertain you with a quick story.
My wife IS NOT into alternative music as much as I am. With very few exceptions (Twilight Singers is one band that comes to mind), she thinks my records are awful and she has the (very annoying) habit of judging music by it's commercial success. I was playing this DVD some other day and she asked me: did this guy breakthrough?
I replied: of course not, look at the guy, his clothes, his songs... He is as alternative as it gets. Maybe he has some cult following, more in Europe than in US.
I was astonished when she said: it's a shame he's not that successful, because he's great!
In few words: cool alternative rock, played by a great singer with a great band.
And yes, I bought it in PAL format (but I bought it directly from amazon.co.uk), so, it does not play on all my DVD players.

What a wonderful concert!! Enjoyed both the CD and DVD. Be advised that the DVD would not play in my blue ray player, wrong region. It played fine via the computer. Read morePublished 16 months ago by Frank2
