In June 2016 Heart made their first ever live appearance at London's famous Royal Albert Hall. To make the sold-out night even more special the band were accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra who added further depth and an epic scale to Heart's songs. The set included hits, fan favorite and both new and reinterpreted tracks from their most recent album Beautiful Broken. The chemistry between band and orchestra added a truly magical quality to a concert that will live long in the memory of those Heart fans lucky enough to be present.

*Great venue: Historic Royal Albert concert hall with RPO. Couldn't ask for better acoustics or rhythm musicians.
*Ann Wilson still has it after all these years
*1080 video and cinematography is very good. Plenty of camera angles and close ups.
One GLARING, insurmountable flaw that makes me wish I had bought the CD.
*DTS HD 5.1 mix is borderline. It sounds better in the Extended Stereo mode on receiver.
*The HD sound is 48/16 ... Yep, the same sample rate / bit depth of a regular old CD.
Today's Hi res Blu ray audio standard is at least 48/24 for concerts / musicals. I have found some jewels in 96/24.
I designed my 5.1 audio system specifically for music and was looking forward to deep, crystal clear Hi Res audio.
What a disappointment.
Giving up $18 for CD quality audio on Blu ray does not cut it for me.
Buyer beware if the sample rate and bit depth are not mentioned on Amazon or anywhere else on the Web
Life's too short to dwell on mistakes .... learn my lesson and move on:)
So what went wrong? First the song selections are pretty dull with little continuity. Each song starts with Ann or Nacy explaining the song. Many are new songs and much of their catalog is missed. Also the orchestra is fantastic but only appears on around half of the songs.
The second thing is the overall production. The sound quality is lacking. I have a Sonos system which does not support DTS. The Bluray does not have a Dolby Digital option that I could find. So no surrounds sound and the basic stereo mix is flat as noted by another reviewer.
During the second encore, the crowd stands and some of the camera shots show the back of heads. A little disappointing for Kick it Out. The first encore is really dull and not what I'd call and encore when you have to explain the songs.
Highlight is Alone. Ann is awesome as usual and the orchestra makes it magical
Heart is incredibly talented and I still love their music. This just isn't a great showcase of their talents.
Every group that performs at The Royal Albert Theater is known for their talent. Keep rocking ladies.
