Phil Windley presents a compelling alternative to today's request-response, silo'ed Internet. When you want to connect everything to everything else a new model is necessary. That model is an evented one. This model is aligned with how we as humans operate, focusing on semantics, identity, and networking (request response is hierarchical) . Using events and an Evented API, developers can begin to define the semantics of behavior for any connected device based on when things happen (an event). A *must* read for anybody interested in the future economy around APIs, Internet of Things, cloud computing and Identity. The Live Web: Building Event-Based Connections in the Cloud
