About the Actor
When the four members of LIVE first began performing together in middle school during the summer of 1985, they gave little, if any, thought to the possibility that they would still be together 23 years later. Lead singer/frontman/ guitarist Ed Kowalczyk, lead guitarist Chad Taylor, bassist Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey were simply four friends who wanted to express themselves through music. But LIVE has, in fact, endured--and along the way, they have built an impressive resume that includes eight full-length albums, total CD sales exceeding 20 million, a huge international fan base and extensive touring all over the world. LIVE has been one of the most successful and enduring alternative rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s, and despite their long list of achievements, LIVE are finding themselves busier than ever touring in the U.S. and Europe and releasing their first-ever live CD/DVD.

The production of this DVD is where it falls short. You have the option of opening the concert with b-roll from a 'handy-cam' that had been taken prior to the concert event. Viewing this, in my opinion, was a waste of time. Although you do get to see a little behind the scenes of the band, the content just didn't make it worth the time to watch it. Now, I don't consider this a large issue, because one can simply choose the concert option and you don't have to watch this.
What you do have to watch, regardless, is the awful cut and jumps from the editing. I've got an entire shelf of concert DVD's and my friends have twice as much as me...and no DVD that I've ever seen cuts as fast and as often as this one does. It borderlines annoyance. My wife whom is an enormous Live fan, left becuase it was making her nauseated, in the sense of watching a movie like Blair Witch or Cloverfield. Working in film has de-sensitized me to that, but I can certainly agree with those whom found it distracting.
This was their first attempt at a live DVD and I hope the sales are enough to warrant making more. If so, I would humply request a slightly slower pace in the cuts.
Also, for those who care, Ed (whom to my understanding has become a born again Christian) changes the lyrics in the second verse of Operation Spirit. Instead of criticizing this "Jesus", he now praises him. I didn't particularly care for this change but he's gotta do what his convictions tell him. Personally I'd rather just have the old lyrics. God will forgive you.
the only negative point is that talking about a band with 7 studio albums, is very difficult to sumarize a hole career in one dvd
songs like pain lies on the riverside, run to the water, ghost, century, waitress, tdb, white discussion, call me a fool, iris etc should be in the other dvd
Live is a great band, with really great tunes, the 17 song were excellent, but I really wanted more!!!
One of the best concert films I've seen, and a must have for any LIVE fan.

The quality of the sound and video are excellent. One of the better Live concert recordings I've seen.
