About the Author
Domyo Sater Burk has been a student of meditation for 20 years. Ordained as a Soto Zen priest in 2001, she had seven years of residential training at Dharma Rain Zen Center and was empowered to function as an independent Zen teacher in 2010 by Rev. Gyokuko Carlson. In addition to Zen meditation, Burk has experience with mindfulness and all the various forms of Buddhist meditation, and has developed a profound respect for the power of meditation to help people access their inner peace, balance, and wisdom. She is also the author of Idiot's Guides: Zen Living and Idiot's Guides: Mindfulness, and leads Bright Way Zen Center in Portland, Oregon.

I've tried just reading sutras or Dogen but found it very difficult to understand as a beginner, and slow going. I'd recommend Sensei Domyo's book for anyone just starting their Zen path, or for even more experienced Zen practitioners who want a go-to guide that can also be shared with friends curious to learn more about Zen.
