Product Description

Carolyn Hudson’s voice is a mood ring of emotion that carries weight, soul and experience. Her intelligent lyrics are at the forefront of her abilities. Her style is brave but it’s her vulnerability that gives her music meaning. This 21st century woman has gifted all "complex goddesses" with a defining collection of songs.

Review

Her detachment and personal insight makes Hudson the female equivalent to Bryan Ferry - there's more than meets the eye. -- Newbeats.com,October 27, 2004

Living in My Skin is a sophisticated album that does not trivialize matters of the heart. -- newbeats.com, October 27, 2004

important this album would be. For me this album is very personal. It became a journey into myself, it presented a different way to look at my mistakes, face my choices and to own up to life and love in a new way. This is NOT a record to just throw on. Every time I listen to it, I am given a healthy shot of encouragement.

Listen to the lyrics closely and you may as well have a jouney into self-realization. There is a fine line between winning and losing the battle with keeping the high road and being ok about it.

It's as if Carolyn Hudson is looking into her soul. She exposes her weaknesses and strengths so as to give you a new perspective into your own.

The smooth, smart, stylish sounds of this album hooked me. The honesty and emotion grabbed me at first, as did Carolyn's voice - a new sound, not just another me too - but then I realized I was really listening to the lyrics. She has something to say - to everyone - and each time I listen, I get drawn a little more in. Wouldn't call "Living" jazz, urban, folk, or pop, but a little bit of each. All coming together best in "My Old Tricks", the song that if you listen to only one, let it be this. I would love to see her perform live - I bet she has got it all in person!

Fresh New Talent is an overrated and overused term, but when it comes to Carolyn Hudson it's right on the mark. She is an amazing new talent. Her songs are fresh and her voice is wonderful. Her CD "Living In My Skin" is entertaing and a joy to listen to. Some of the songs are infectious, you'll find yourself huming them after a listen or two.

Standout tracks are:

I Don't Ask Why

Patiently for Roses

Dorothy
