couch (a tribute of sorts in and of itself, because I'm 70 and not quite in the same phenomenal physical shape that Frosty is in) and went looking for my trusty, bright yellow high-lighter. By the time I was 200 pages into this most inspiring book I had wielded said marker more than one-hundred times -- and that was using considerable restraint!
Why? Because each and every one of those underlined sentences and/or passages contained an observation, a life-changing bit of wisdom that, IF BOTH PONDERED AND THEN FOLLOWED, was worthy of posting in bold letters on your bathroom mirror so that it was the first thing you saw, the first thing you THOUGHT ABOUT each day! Any one of those short-but-succinct passages, all by itself, had the potential of redirecting your thinking, redirecting your life in a more positive way.
Now, to be sure, Frosty is also quite fond of quotes from those philosophers and great thinkers who have preceded him (Notice how I
have lumped him into that same group? But, hey, I've known the man for fifty years and am perfectly comfortable with bestowing that
honor). Frosty, however, is TODAY, and his observations carry with them a special, oftentimes delightful relevance. "The courage to be
you in 21st century America may be one of the bravest acts of your life. Our cookie-cutter society educates people into 'slots' that maintain
the engine of commerce," is one of them. Another: "You did not come to this planet to prove yourself. You arrived in grand style to express yourself, laugh with life, create with life and entertain yourself with whatever passion(s) catches your fancy." There are scores more, and
all of them make one determined to "do better' and be one's own best friend. And that, my friend, is the giant FIRST STEP towards living a
The "how to" and the "lists" and "things to consider" portions of the book are equally impressive. I would certainly take it with me (and will)
in all my travels. Frosty has thought of EVERTHING, and has organized it in the most usable, easily accessed way. The "Nuts and Bolts of
World Adventure" is what he calls that part, and it is all-encompassing. Kept asking myself, "How can he possibly remember all this and list
it all in a meaningful, interesting way?" Don't know; but he does.
I could go on and on, but then I might be accused of pure gushiness. So I'll just conclude with one of the few "famous people" quoted
in LIVING YOUR SPECTACULAR LIFE whose words were, to me, as thought provoking as Frosty's own: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do." Mark Twain. Reading SPECTACULAR LIFE is the best 'vitamin" you can take to help guard against this prediction . . .
