Update--my sister (who is more experienced with dogs than I am) opined that the dog could very well be getting more water than it seemed. She said dogs don't get very much by lapping water up, either. It apparently just seems like they do. Anyway--she convinced me to give the bottle another chance, and to note how much the dog actually consumed by paying attention to how much water was missing, not how much dripped at any time from the spout. So I tried again. The dog laid down and seemed to be quite happy licking the spout, so I left her there. In two minutes, he'd punctured both the side and the top of the bottle. So, I learned this bottle is not for big chewers. Now I'm looking for a glass bottle. Sigh......
I bought one for $8 at Petsmart that uses a spring instead of the screws this uses. It's much easier, cheaper & smaller.
But after a few uses from our dogs, it started leaking we’re the ball is at the tip. It’s almost like it gets stuck and let’s water just drip. After coming home and dining water all over the floor, we gave up on it.
