Update--my sister (who is more experienced with dogs than I am) opined that the dog could very well be getting more water than it seemed. She said dogs don't get very much by lapping water up, either. It apparently just seems like they do. Anyway--she convinced me to give the bottle another chance, and to note how much the dog actually consumed by paying attention to how much water was missing, not how much dripped at any time from the spout. So I tried again. The dog laid down and seemed to be quite happy licking the spout, so I left her there. In two minutes, he'd punctured both the side and the top of the bottle. So, I learned this bottle is not for big chewers. Now I'm looking for a glass bottle. Sigh......
I have used MANY other bottles before and this one does not drip. Super easy to fill, no problems.
Use some peanut butter on the nipple for training, it helps and works.
Mounting is flexible and easy, sometimes I use a tie-wrap to make sure it is tight and doesn't move side to side. A small piece of wire works too (if the dog chews on plastic). Since you don't have to remove it from the cage once it is set you can really get it mounted securely.
I purchased several of these same water bottles for my daughter's guinea pigs 8 months ago and they have been excellent for that. NO mess, no drips, no leaks. I don't know why hadn't thought to use one for my little dog but now that I have I won't go back to a bowl for him.
I LOVE that they are made by Developmentally disabled people right here in the USA and that I can support their work by purchasing these,
That makes me wish I needed 100 of them. This is exactly the kind of company I want to support.

I initially got this for my dog because he has a water-beard problem. When he drinks water from his puppy bowl, water gets on his beard and it gets all over the floor! So I thought this would be a great solution since he would have to put his head up to drink water. However, I was wrong. Instead of drinking water from this, he fears it and runs away! I think this reminds him of something from the Vet or something. He doesn't like drinking water from this.
So if you do end up purchasing this, just make sure your dog is already familiar with what it does. My family dog is pretty old now at 10 years, so it's kind of difficult to train him to drink water from this, especially if he's scared of it. This might be a good thing for puppies who are used to drinking water this way, especially if you've given them water or milk with a bottle before.
