Excellent Travel Bowl

This is a great bowl! I have people at the dog park always asking me where I got this (I demand a commission!!) It works great in the car and I take it to the park. The water stays at a low level to help keep from spilling along with the blue screw top design. If I don't want other dogs sticking their dirty little noses in my bowl, I can just flip it upside down until my dog is ready to drink. The dogs seem to flock to it. I have had this for over a year and recently bought a second one as a spare. I have an 80lb Shepherd mix who has prefers this over his giant water dish at home. Weirdo.
Note: Larger/wider head dogs like the bulldog, may not be able to get their face in there to drink. The inside dimension of cap is 3.875” wide and it tapers down. It’s 3” deep.
Be warned: it does spill at 45 degree angles.
The pictures are for scale. My dog likes to lie down while he drinks at the park (gets kinda pooped out) and the other dog is a little puppy.

I bought this because the description made me believe no water would escape the bowl. It arrived just in time for a 10-hr road trip with our dogs. I set the bowl between the dogs in the back seat and, at our first pit stop saw that there was water all over the seat...as in a pool of water. So I turned it around allowing the drinking hole to face forward of the seat. Another pool of water soaked my seat. deciding the thing must need to be level I set it in the floor board. Guess what? I found my floorboard saturated. I can only conclude that this bowl is not meant to be full of water while traveling. I'm going back to my ice cream bucket and lid because this fancy travel bowl is a disappointment.

Great for trail dogs in Jeeps.

This thing works great! I was a little worried at first, just due to introducing something new to my dog, whether or not she would use it. I got this for when I take her for rides in my Jeep, but I wanted to get her accustomed to it. I filled it with water, I set it down, showed her the water, and she's been using it ever since. She likes it better than her 5 gal jug /water bowl.
The design works well. It doesn't spill at all. You can pick it up by the handle and it won't spill either. Easy to fill and clean. Holds plenty of water, especially for smaller / medium dogs...mine is only 55 lbs and she's been using it for 2 days, and it looks to have another 3-4 days worth still in it. It won't replace her 5 gal bowl for the house, but it's nice to know it'll last plenty long enough out on the trail. Large dogs might (or might not) balk at it. The bowl itself is kind of small (about 3 3/4" at the top, 1 3/4" where most of the water is), and it keeps the water level in the bowl low (to avoid spills). Again I don't know if it's an issue for larger dogs or not. Just something to think about (it does look bigger in the pics). Other then that, I read a complaint about the bowl being hard to screw in? Not mine (but mine isn't the blue bowl in the pics, it's a light grey, which looks better IMHO). It's no harder than the lid on her food bowl hopper. Turn it backwards 'till the threads seat, then screw it forward. Easy enough.
Overall I think it'll be great for the trails to keep her hydrated in the AZ heat. Heck, you can even put ice in it.

I love this water bowl. After several years my first one wore out and I was happy to find another. With the extreme hot weather we've had, I fill it with ice cubes first. It's very sturdy and no matter how rough the road is this doesn't spill. It holds more than enough for long road trips too. I've read some comments about it getting stinky and green and is hard to clean. I suppose that might be the case if you left it sitting with water still inside for days. H-m-m. Maybe if they had turned it over and emptied it out at the end of the day there wouldn't have been a problem?
I've carried it everywhere. Walks in the park, a charity walk, an art fair and just plain, everyday walks. It's just a darn good product and is worth every penny!

If you don't mind water all over the back of your vehicle, this product is for you. Actually, the dogs love it. However, spill proof it isn't. Design should be changed. A top should be provided to keep water inside when traveling. Other reviewers who have given this low rating should be read. They go into detail about how the seal and top aren't great. More importantly, you have to keep almost no water in it while traveling or you have a mess on your hands. Good thing I have rubber mats in the back of the SUV.

I should have paid better attention to the 1 star reviews than the glowing 4-5 star ones. Don't repeat my mistake.

So, how do you make this thing work after you've made a mistake and bought it? I keep NO water in the bowl when traveling or even backing the car up. I carry a quart of water in a sealed jug and fill it once we stop. The, back in the jug to travel. Cumbersome but until I can figure out how to put a non-leak top on it, this is how I am using it.

Great for road trips and parks

We were in need of a portable water bowl for an up coming road trip. As with most local pet stores the selection was limited and over priced. We pulled the trigger just in time to see the waterboy deliver the day we were heading out.

The plastic is sturdy and as long as you have a firm grip the seal is tight and waterproof to prevent leaks. Though not perfect if you only fill to the recommended line it will stay in the bowl on a long drive. If frequently stopping and going to say a local park, i would recommend standing it up on end next to the center console or a door.

Other reviews mention having to step on the covered end to push water up. What i have found is that in car you want to leave the lid on to stop spills. But once at the park or destination remove the lid and it makes it much easier for your pets to use. The opening is plenty big for dogs of all sizes.

One last thing there appear to be other versions or manufacturers of the same bowl. I do not know how to distinguish which would be the original but this one is great quality and has worked great for us. A solid buy.
