Great sauce (but a lot of sodium!)

This stuff is TASTY. I dated a Costa Rican woman years ago and had it then and it's better than I remember. She went home for a while and brought some back.

Now, I did want to point out it doesn't need refrigeration. That makes a lot of common sense in Costa Rica since it is rather warm there. It doesn't need refrigeration because of the salt content.

15ml = 360 mg sodium (16% USRDA)

That's bad because you're going to want to use it a lot because it is awesome.

I'm going to use it to brine some country style ribs and then smoke them. Thinking about that makes my mouth water and I just ate a great meal with Lizano not thirty minutes ago.

TL;DR - Unless you are on a low sodium diet or only eat bland food, GET SOME.

You can't find a better endorsement than that.

It has a taste that is unique. So it does take awhile to really really like it.
It is spicy but not too hot. Some sweetness . And many other supple flavors.
Costa Ricans use it alot on Eggs and Red Beans and Rice. Fish Meat...
Very versatile.
It is a little hard to find in the US, but Amazon carries it.

I had purchased the small bottle and it didn't last long at our table. So I just had to purchase the larger bottle and I plan on cooking with it as well as using for condiment. We kind of like our hot sauces anything fromm on eggs and avocados to tacos and beans etc. This has very nice flavor. Got this product based on positive reviews. Perhaps its due to nostalgia for some -- but to me, tasting without any attachment to such a product, it was grossly bitter and salty tasting. It also comes in a plastic bottle and has preservatives in it which is a turn off. I was looking for a type of salsa/hot sauce that my sister-in-law brought back as from Costa Rica quite awhile ago which was delicious. This product is definitely not what I washing it would be. I will never use it -- so tossed it. Its not returnable.

I purchased this as a gift for my mom and stepdad. They had recently gone to Costa Rica and kept talking about this sauce and how delicious it was. I had to get it for them! They have used it on many things but their favorite thing to use it on is chicken. It is very delicious and unique. It is a must try! It doesn’t hurt to try and you never know what you may be missing out on. I highly recommend this.

Great authentic flavor.. spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica and have been searching for Salsa Lizzano in grocery stores back in the US every since with no luck of finding it. We were hooked on Gallo Pinto since our trip and have made it a few times without Salsa Lizzano, but it just didn’t have thay authentic taste. Luckily we found it on Amazon and ordered a bottle. As soon as it came, we cooked up a dish of gallo pinto (& banana bread, another staple) and felt like we were back in Costa Rica.

This product was exactly what we had been searching for.

The only negative thing I have to say is not about the product at all, but rather the shipping. With Prime, it said it would arrive in 2 days, however I did not receive the product for 6 days. What can you do, though?

I guess this is an acquired taste. To me and my husband it tastes like a very salty thin gravy. The color, greenush brown. I was not happy that the bottle lid was not sealed. It only had a thin plastic wrapper and the lid was partially unscrewed. I don't recommend this salsa.
