Lizzie Garrett Mettler grew up in Lake Forest, Illinois after spending some of her childhood living in Switzerland and Southern California. She received her B.A. in History at Occidental College and continues to live in Los Angeles where she began her editorial career at Bon Appetit Magazine. There she covered emerging trends in design as well as wrote about restaurants and culinary and home products.
In 2007, Mettler began her freelance career, contributing to the launch of the Image section of The Los Angeles Times and writing for several national and city publications including Chicago Magazine, Bon Appetit, Interiors and FOAM. In 2009 Mettler became a regular contributor at The Los Angeles Times where she wrote features on architecture and design for the Home section. Her first book, based on the blog Tomboy Style, was published by Rizzoli in 2012.
Mettler lives in Los Angeles with her husband Matt and their mutt Harrison.
