About this item
- Make sure this fits by entering your model number.
- A flawless pairing of form and function that doesn't quit, the Lodge Dutch Oven is an enameled cast iron classic that's great for preparing and serving memorable meals.
- WHAT IS PORCELAIN ENAMEL ON CAST IRON. It is actually glass that becomes bonded to the cast iron at high temperatures. A particulate of glass, called frit, is applied to the cast iron vessel and then baked at temperatures between 1200 and 1400° F. The glass frit melts and fuses to the cast iron, forming a bond. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is heat tolerant and impervious to water and other consumables.
- MAKE EVERY MEAL A MEMORY. Lodge knows that cooking is about more than just the food; it’s about the memories.
- FAMILY-OWNED. Lodge is more than just a business; it’s a family. The Lodge family founded the company in 1896, and they still own it today. From environmental responsibility to community development, their heads and hearts are rooted in America. All Lodge seasoned cast iron and carbon steel cookware is proudly made in the USA, meaning you’ll get craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations. About Lodge Cast Iron
Founded in 1896, the Lodge family has been making high quality cookware and accessories for over a century. Lodge Cast Iron operates two foundries on the banks of the Tennessee River in the small town of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; a town Lodge is proud to call home. The company is built on family values, American history, and high quality cookware. All Lodge seasoned cast iron and carbon steel cookware is proudly made in the USA, meaning you’ll get craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations.
Cooking And Caring For Your Lodge Enameled Cast Iron
1. Allow cookware to cool.
2. Although dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon Scrub Brush is recommended to preserve the cookware’s original appearance. Citrus juices and citrus-based cleaners (including some dishwasher detergents) should not be used, as they can dull the exterior gloss.
3. If necessary, use nylon pads or scrapers to remove food residue; metal pads or utensils will scratch or chip porcelain.
4. Slight stains can be removed by rubbing with dampened cloth and Lodge Enamel Cleaner or other ceramic cleaner according to directions on bottle.
5. Dry cookware thoroughly before storing. Do not stack cookware.

I received a question about why the mating surfaces aren’t coated and they get rust. 1st I’d guess because all the friction would wear off the coating anyway and this would keep anny cracked enamel from occurring and spreading?!?! Just a guess. Also, if it is rusting where are you storing it? I live in FL. High humidity and have no rust, but I’ve only owned it for a short time. I’d say hand sand it and wash off rust. Dry super well and apply a liberal amount of oil. Maybe put in the oven and season it there? When I get new lodge pjs without enamel I grind off the inner coating clean and dry well. Then I coat with oil and season in the oven. Never an issue never any rust ever. Hope that helps a little
If you are making no knead bread, soups, stews, pork but BBQ it all works in this one pot. (not at the same time:)
Great value for the money. It preforms the same as the higher priced similar looking Dutch Ovens.
It is heavy though, and frankly too big for most of our needs, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very well made, quality dutch oven.

Dutch oven arrived on schedule in excellent condition. It was well packed. No chips to enamel whatsoever. I appreciate that Lodge included the small black clips to prevent any rubbing between the pot and lid. Most of all, I appreciate that Lodge makes these products affordable. Will buy more if the storm blue becomes available in a wider range.

Also worth mentioning - for whatever reason the pot's colour gets way darker when it's hot. I don't know if that's intended but it always goes back to normal once it cools so I'm not stressed about it but be aware that's a thing that happens. Actually kinda handy so you know when it's dangerous to grab.
Edit: A few months after writing this my pot sponatneously chipped while it was being preheated. I've been regularly baking bread in it requiring 500 degree temps for hours and was searing in it so I think it was thermal shock that did it. Contacted Lodge and they asked a few questions immediately offered to replace it - seems like as long as you don't admit to absolutely abusing the pot they're pretty happy to send you another one. I've had that one for about a year now and it's great. Again this is essentially a budget version of another product (LC) so I'm not expecting perfection and a lifetime of use, and the company offering to send me a new one at no charge is all I could really ask for. For stovetop use I still think this pot is absolutely 5 stars, but maybe avoid for bread baking unless that's the only thing you plan on using it for. I still use the old chipped one for baking and it's great for that. Overall a little disappointed at the lack of flexibility but in terms of value for price I'll still happily call this 5 stars.
I was surprised as the manual and the website had no warning of using cast iron on a glass cook top.
I only had the pot on the stove at medium for less than hour so when I saw a blemish on my stove. I thought it was merely a stain on the cook top, however, I soon realized to my dismay that the Lodge logo on the bottom of the Dutch oven acted like a branding iron and melted the glass and imprinted it with the "Lodge" logo.
I contacted the Company a week and a half ago and gave them pictures but I've been completely ignored by Lodge and no one has called me back.
