Cooking And Caring For Your Lodge Seasoned Cast Iron
Caring for your cast iron doesn’t have to be complicated. Lodge cookware comes already seasoned and ready to use, so you can make your family's favorite recipes right away. You can use it on any heat source, from the stove top to the campfire (just not the microwave!). The more you use it, the better the seasoning will get.
- Wash cast iron by hand with mild soap or none at all.
- Dry promptly and thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel.
- Rub with a very light layer of vegetable oil, preferably while the cookware is still warm.
- Hang or store cookware in a dry place.

The Mini Lodge Cast Iron Skillet

The skillet is durable, retains heat exceptionally well, and it’s not too difficult to clean. I use this on an electric stove with no issues, and it’s great for pork chops, steak, veggies, pretty much anything. The diameter of the skillet is about 10 inches and the diameter of the cooking surface is about 8.5 inches. It comes with a silicone handle cover which is decent, but sometimes the handle still feels fairly hot during extended use. I’m not sure if the silicone cover is oven rated. Cleanup isn’t too difficult either, I just use some warm/hot water and a scrubbing pad. If the skillet has a ton of carbon and debris stuck to it after I’m done cooking, and the warm water isn’t working, I just add a tiny bit of Dawn dishwashing soap, and that hasn’t ruined the seasoning or the skillet. Overall it’s a great skillet and I would definitely recommend it. Don’t forget to completely dry it and add a thin coat of food safe oil to it after using it!
