I was thinking the other day about how much it would suck to have to use a different mouse after all these years, and decided I'd better try to get a spare! My hand has practically molded itself to the shape of the hallowed MX518, so I'd be like a fish out of water with another mouse. Of course, to get a new-in-box 518 I'd have to spend several hundred dollars - I'm not that desperate yet, so I decided on used. The one I received might as well be new (it's still got the plastic on the badge!), so I'm very pleased. It's the updated version with the large sliders so I hope it's as sturdy as my original. It's sitting on my shelf all wrapped up for now since mine is still kicking. Maybe I'll never have to unwrap it!
So yeah, kids these days with their new-fangled wireless meese don't know what they're missing! This is still the best gaming mouse money can buy in my opinion.
This MX 518 has quite possibly been my most treasured gaming accessory. I spend many hours a week in front of my PC. If I'm not playing games I'm collaborating on them, and this mouse fits comfortably in my rather large hand. That was the original selling point for me. It has hooked me even more over the time I have had it. The DPI is not as high as some other "Enthusiast" or "Fanatic" level gaming mice; but it works for me.
Every PC gamer wants a mouse that will fit them perfectly, "The diamond in the rough", if you will. The MX 518 is mine.
Edit: I'd like to add that this is not the 1600 DPI MX518, but the 1800. The 1600 is the mouse everyone is reviewing so favorably and this is not it. The 1800 DPI MX518 is NOT worth 100 dollars.
