When he first received it he switched colors almost daily, but he's pretty much stuck with blue recently. The lighting is not very bright, if I had to change one thing that would be it. if you are a touch typist no problem but in the dark if you actually look at the keys while typing this is pretty hard to see. The big selling point of this though is of course the gaming aspect. he plays 4 games on the pc and set up profiles for each. it also shows him information about each game on the readout as he playing (and that is bright enough to be easy too see) also sometimes the clock won't stay current until a reboot or shut down but everything else still works so it isn't a dealbreaker. (although it could be an issue I guess if you play full screen and need to watch the time)
Unlike other backlit LED keyboards, you can customize any colors you like and assign them as quick presets to change with the tap of a button. That feature is key for me, as I like to match the backlight color to the LED colors on my mouse and to the LED light strip I have ringing the rear of my desk. The LED screen can be used to display in-game information, although that does require a bit of work on the user end for recent games. You can also have it display images from your Windows Media files, or even cycle through RSS feeds. Note that the LED screen does have its own associated processes, although their footprints are tiny.
As keyboards go, it's much quieter than most, and it's extremely durable. I have had no major issues in more than four years, despite the fact that I'm not as diligent about regularly cleaning the keyboard as I should be.
First off, I love that it's not very loud, and the keys are responsive but have a good feel to them. I never accidently press them if my hand is resting on them, and they are well-spaced. I love the backlighting, especially since I can make it pretty much any color I want. The profiles you can load for individual games are nice too, if only more were supported...
I don't use the macros too much, but from what I read, people seem to like them. I love the toggle that allows you to nullify the Windows key! Lifesaver in certain games. The multimedia controls on the upper right of the keyboard function well, and I like the sound chip, or driver, whatever, that is used in the keyboard. I hooked my speakers up to this keyboard instead of my motherboard, and to my surprise, the sound was better from the keyboard. It is a little wide since it has macros, but not obsessively so. If only there were more official uses for the LCD screen! There seems to be a large community of people who develop individual coding for it though, so there's always and option for expansion there.
Obviously, switching from a keyboard I've used for over 10 years made it difficult to get used to at first, but overall, it is much, much better than my previous keyboard. I do wish I could tilt it upwards a little more for increased comfort, but luckily the attached wrist pad helps alleviate discomfort as well.
