Thats right, 2011 and this is June 4th of 2017! 6 years and Im still using this keyboard every single day. I use it for every day use and gaming. The 18 G keys are awesome and allow me to set several different actions and function to even executing some scripts. Its been cleaned several times as I like to eat and drink while at the computer shooting noobs faces during gaming sessions. The back light is adequate for seeing in low light if needed and the colors can be changed quite easily. There are no indexing marks on the keyboard for typing but it is a gaming keyboard. I find the stands on the rear to be adequate for getting some pitch to the keyboard. I do not use the palm rest that came with mine. I think the keys are spaced about the right amount of distance to allow reaching the different keys used during gaming but could be a little tight for those wanting to use this more for general typing duties more than gaming. The display is nice. Allows you to see several different things as well as your systems resources. I dread the day I have to buy a new keyboard.
I know it's a lot of money, but it is worth it.
Unlike other backlit LED keyboards, you can customize any colors you like and assign them as quick presets to change with the tap of a button. That feature is key for me, as I like to match the backlight color to the LED colors on my mouse and to the LED light strip I have ringing the rear of my desk. The LED screen can be used to display in-game information, although that does require a bit of work on the user end for recent games. You can also have it display images from your Windows Media files, or even cycle through RSS feeds. Note that the LED screen does have its own associated processes, although their footprints are tiny.
As keyboards go, it's much quieter than most, and it's extremely durable. I have had no major issues in more than four years, despite the fact that I'm not as diligent about regularly cleaning the keyboard as I should be.
When he first received it he switched colors almost daily, but he's pretty much stuck with blue recently. The lighting is not very bright, if I had to change one thing that would be it. if you are a touch typist no problem but in the dark if you actually look at the keys while typing this is pretty hard to see. The big selling point of this though is of course the gaming aspect. he plays 4 games on the pc and set up profiles for each. it also shows him information about each game on the readout as he playing (and that is bright enough to be easy too see) also sometimes the clock won't stay current until a reboot or shut down but everything else still works so it isn't a dealbreaker. (although it could be an issue I guess if you play full screen and need to watch the time)
