Let me start off by saying that while this is far from the first mechanical keyboard I've typed on, it is the first that I've ever owned. I do a combination of typing and gaming, so I wanted something that would handle both pretty well. After a year of research on mechanical keyboards, key switches, key caps, car keys, key cards, keynotes, Key Largo, and any other key term I could think of, I settled on Cherry MX Blues. I've always loved the click on the mechanical keyboards I've used, and I read a lot of good things about Cherry keys (and for my first mechanical, I'm going all out). Blues could accommodate both typing and gaming, so I thought to give it a go.
The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was the weight of the keyboard. After a lifetime of membrane boards, I wasn't expecting something that could be used as a defensive weapon against an alien invasion. After I lugged it over to my desk, I noticed that it actually needs 2 USB ports. I suspect one of these was to power the white backlighting (which looks awesome - really, who needs colors?), but thought it could potentially be a problem for some people until I found the USB port on the keyboard itself. The six programmable keys are wonderful, even though I haven't really used them yet. The clicking sounds SO GOOD, but you may want to spring for the MX Browns if you're not fond of the sound (which I am - can you tell?) or are easily annoyed. The switches are sturdy and the keys glide as you type. I have actually seen my typing speed improve (I think) as I use this keyboard, and the response time is wonderful on multiple video games.
The only issue I have is not with the keyboard, but with my own bad habits. I always use the risers on the back because the keys seem to have a weird slant if I don't. However, I soon found that was because I've been typing wrong for a while. Your hands are supposed to bounce and your wrists are supposed to be up in the air. I always laid my wrists down, which probably accounts for some of my wrist issues. This keyboard has actually taught me to type correctly. It actually gives me better posture. I am not being sarcastic or unrealistic (like I usually am). I actually mean this.
And as always, it's made by Logitech, so you know it'll be a quality piece of equipment.
I haven't included every feature that's included in this keyboard, as I don't want to ruin all the surprises that will be included if you do decide to buy this. However, of all the keyboards I've typed on, I have to recommend this one. White lights mean no hype and Logitech means quality for a good price. I say get this. Simple as that.
UPDATE - 3/31/16: My enter key has this strange point where it seems to stick and won't bottom out. It's after the actuation point, but it's there. Not a big problem.
Holy cow. I now know why gaming keyboards are priced the way they are. This is the best experience I've ever had typing or gaming, and I've been using a computer for the better part of 20 years. The most important thing to me was tactile feedback and this thing has got that down pat. Switching to mechanical keyboards is one the best quality of life improvements to gaming I've done. The satisfying click sound makes everything worth it, and it is amazing the difference between this and the keyboards I'd been using.
The backlighting is nice and it works well, improving the visibility a lot. I haven't mapped any of the extra keys or tried the macro features yet, and I'm not sure that I will, I don't really use macros that often, but the typing experience is worth the price alone.
It if matters, I did check, press, and hear carefully every single key on this keyboard (every single one i had) to ensure that all the switches were working, but unfortunately, they were not. like i said earlier, the key did register, but it did not have the audible click or tactile feel as the rest of the board, which i was a deal breaker for me. The best way i could describe it would be it sounded and felt like somewhere in between a red and brown switch.
I really wanted to like this keyboard, but it seem the quality control for either Logitech or cherry wasnt up to standard. but overall, the keyboard had a good weight, size, and the features are nice. especially the volume scroll wheel. If i found a board that had all the switches/keys perfect, I would have most definitely kept the item and would give it 5 star. but for now, 2 stars.
I do blow it out with compressed air every 6 months. I also pulled all the keycaps and deep cleaned everything one time a couple months ago. That probably wasn't needed, but it made me feel better lol. Looking forward to many more years of service. Thanks Logitech!

I purchased this as it is one of the few mechanical keyboards with a reasonable set of media keys. I'm talking volume control, play/pause, stop, forward, back, etc. I don't like keyboards which cannot control audio programs, and although the media keys on this keyboard aren't mechanical like the rest of the keyboard, at least it has some. (I'm pretty sure you won't be worried about anti-ghosting on media keys anyhow).
The backlighting and macro keys are perfect on this keyboard. Great stuff. You can backlight just the WASD keys if you like, their backlight control is separate from the other keys. The clickiness is perfect, not too hard, not too soft. Blue switches are top notch for if you desire a clicky keyboard. It's not ridiculously loud either.
Only gripe I have is that the faceplate of the keyboard is gloss black. It will likely show dirt and wear very quickly. I'd prefer a matte finish on there.
