This is my third one of these. The finally fixed the issue that was permanently scratching or damaging the screens, or at least I think so.First one I bought was a black on in December of 2015 for $149.00. The next one was bought in November of 2016 for $130. The most recent was for $110 in June of 2017.Typically if the product works as is advertised and the quality is in line with the price then I give it five stars tentatively, then deduct stars for usability problems, functionality problems, flaws, quality, etc.First things first, the scratching of the screen. This is a huge deal, and the worst of it was that it happens so slowly you don't even notice it until its too late. One day I was trying to wipe off a "smudge" and it just wouldn't come off. And that's all it looks like--a smudge--so it doesn't ruin the screen but is enough that I would never put one of these older models on an iPad. I would have rated the first two models I got a 1 star--unsafe to put on your iPad.However, once the damage was done I just left it on. The case functions like a dream. Having it backlit is extremely useful. You never have to charge it, the keys have a great responsiveness, and the protection the case provides is second to none.Which gets to why I have needed three of these. I left my iPad on top of our Jeep one night and my daughter took the Jeep to the store. I took off after her and found the iPad in the first intersection. The case itself was badly damaged, cracked and such, but the iPad was fine. This was after falling off the top of a Jeep while in motion. So it definitely does its job of protecting the iPad from trauma.So then I bought a red one, which lasted another year or more. I dropped it onto a hard tile floor and it landed on its corner. Again, the iPad was safe but the case's corner had cracked and a few pieces of hard plastic had fallen off. Those pieces of hard plastic were the buttons on the case that allowed me to work the volume and power buttons. So on the one hand, maybe a $130 case shouldn't have pieces break off when it falls onto a tile floor, but on the other hand my iPad is fine. And it did land exactly on that corner. I should add that I've dropped it a bunch of other times with no damage to the case.So I bought another black one, and when I put the iPad into it I immediately realized that they had changed the design so that the screen no longer touches the case at all, anywhere. They made a couple small plastic bumps around the perimeter of the case taller than they were on the old models (picture attached). This should solve the problem of permanently smudging screens.Value is subjective, keeping in mind I've now paid almost $500 for protecting an iPad Pro. I do think its a little over priced, but the problem with Amazon is that so many of their electronics are re-badged no-name brands propped up by tainted reviews for free products, I'd rather pay a little more for a known quantity like Logitech.Rating is as follows:Protection is five starsFunctionality is five starsValue for the money is four starsDesign for the first two was one star (because it damaged the iPad)Design for the most recent one is tentatively five starsGiving an overall rating on this is difficult because of the new design It clearly does its job of protecting an iPad from damage related to drops and falls. But the case itself is expensive, and although I think the redesign will prevent screen damage, I can't say for sure--so in light of all that I'm settling on four stars.
