-Back of controller had a nice smooth/soft feel plastic
-Buttons and Sticks have nice weight/resistance
-Windows7 Found the drivers and installed with no fuss, ready to play quickly
-Comes with name-brand batteries (2x AA) already installed
-Comes with USB extension cable to locate wireless receiver away from computer (I did not need to do this however).
-Games recognize it as an XBOX360 Controller, no setup/binding needed
-I have used it with a range from 3-6 feet with no issues
-Sticks have a textured rubber on the top that is really nice, feels great and fingers don't slip off.
-The buttons have a good feel but sound very plastic (loud click-clack sounds when playing)
-Package (plastic clamshell) is easier to open than some, but still a pain and easily cuts your fingers on the edges
-Has an 8-way dpad but while UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT work great and have a nice feel, NW/NE and SW/SE directions take some work to get right and have it actually register...almost feels like it is only supposed to be a 4-way dpad (not a big deal for me as my games mostly use the sticks).
My single objection to this is the lack of a power switch. Yeah yeah, I know it will just shut off when idle, but I rather have a switch to turn it on and off. Even if it was to hold a certain button for a few seconds to switch on and off would've been fine. I like to be sure when things are absolutely not draining power.
I find that they are pretty confortable, and that the batteries last a pretty good amount if time. They definitely do not feel cheap, and I like the kind of bulky shape of them.
That said, I find a number of issues with these controllers, especially taking into account how long Logitech has been selling this same model with no changes or new models ever being offered.
My number one issue is the inconsistent connection. No matter where I place the wireless dongle, an inch away or 4 feet away, I get the same constant dropouts. This design issue alone makes this no better a controller than most of the cheap ones.
I do not understand how Logitech could be selling this same model for so long without ever coming out with a rechargeable battery pack.
Also, there are no drivers to speak of. So, when you begin having issues with the controller refusing to connect, which will happen, you actually have to use the XBOX 360 drivers because Logitech doesn't provide any.
Overall, this controller is not worth $50, or even $25 when you could just get the XBOX controller.
I would stay away from the F710.
