Top Customer Reviews
-Back of controller had a nice smooth/soft feel plastic
-Buttons and Sticks have nice weight/resistance
-Windows7 Found the drivers and installed with no fuss, ready to play quickly
-Comes with name-brand batteries (2x AA) already installed
-Comes with USB extension cable to locate wireless receiver away from computer (I did not need to do this however).
-Games recognize it as an XBOX360 Controller, no setup/binding needed
-I have used it with a range from 3-6 feet with no issues
-Sticks have a textured rubber on the top that is really nice, feels great and fingers don't slip off.
-The buttons have a good feel but sound very plastic (loud click-clack sounds when playing)
-Package (plastic clamshell) is easier to open than some, but still a pain and easily cuts your fingers on the edges
-Has an 8-way dpad but while UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT work great and have a nice feel, NW/NE and SW/SE directions take some work to get right and have it actually register...almost feels like it is only supposed to be a 4-way dpad (not a big deal for me as my games mostly use the sticks).
The controller is not actually shaped like a Playstation controller and is very uncomfortable to hold LT and RT. Over time your hands become fatigued. I own many logitech items, keyboard, mouse etc. but this controller purchase was a waste of my $40 and is beyond disappointing.
On my PC:
I tried to use a PS3 controller. Support was there to translate it to the 360 Xinput, but the process is kind of lengthy, less than perfectly stable, and cumbersome. It does work, though it didn't allow me to use enough buttons off the controller.
I tried to use an Xbox360 controller which was perfectly supported PnP but again, still lacking in enough buttons.
In comes this: the Logitech Gampad F710! Installed perfectly. Stretched the extender cable out to the right of my computer so there wouldn't be any interference and this controller has been nearly perfect. It switches between the old PC DirectX standard and the newer Xbox360 Xinput simply and easily with the switch on the back of the controller. In the old mode, it let's me use the 12 buttons I want to instead of limiting me to 10 like the 360 controllers.
The only thing I could think of as a complaint would be the lack of a switch to manually turn it on/off. It does, however, seem to have a fairly intelligent on/off timer and it's turn on response time seems to be less than or at most a full second so it's more of a nitpick than an actual complaint.
I absolutely recommend this Gamepad to anyone who doesn't need a super fancy pad and just wants to do straight up gaming, especially if you like to plunk down and play older games that originally ran straight off of DirectX. Already talked one buddy into getting it so I'm doing my part here!
